Default Please people....

Ihave just spent 6 hours trying to get the rear shock pin out of the rear assembly. It's obviously been out before as the shocks are "newer".

Why not put a bit of anti seize on there? Why not take a minute before you slap it back together?

Jesus. Off to home depot for a larger cut off wheel. This thing is coming out somehow.

I have a 10lnb sledge for suspension work.

Buy a bigger hammer.

if I cannot turn it, I heat it, if I still cannot get it to turn, then I just get the zip disc out and cut it.

I've had them turn and not come out because the metal inner sleeve has torn loose from the rubber on the shock.

Sawzall!

Rennlist app does not work for posting pics. Trying again....

Suffice to say, its out, but the shaft is still partially in the arm. Time for the 20 ton press.

If I can I like to wrap the lower suspension hubs with rags covered in oil and brake fluid for the winter storage before I try to tackle rear shocks, I have yet to have a prob getting them apart (crosos my fingers for the next time). Sorry to hear your having problems. I have heard that some people use a saws all to cut them out with good success.

I used PB Blaster and a long handled wrench jacked up by a floor jack(basically the weight of the car) to get mine to initally begin turning. I then used an impact to keep it turning and turned it right out.

I had this exact same problem and finally had to remove the hub from there and use a 20T press and a lot of heat cycle to take those f... out! They were really stuck there.

I hope yours will come out without to mutch trouble.

If you are ready to sacrifice your actual shocks, this is how I did it.
Here is my thread:

Good luck.

Shocks were the reason I was disassembling. Trying to use some good used shocks I had on an entire rear end I was storing. God the shocks, which was my point - but for it to take 7 hours (I suppose I could have just cut it once it was stuck - but I have never had them THIS stuck) was ridiculous on many levels.

Really nice set of Konis. A three inch part of the shaft is still in the bushing on the arm - but I'll just press it all out later.

The real question has not been asked though.

Brenden, are you going to put it back together?

Maybe the CRC pene oil that freezes would have helped?

My guess is that it was bent. We see this all the time taking cars apart.
