Yeah, first glimpse there might be headroom to actually repair and stay above water. THough ample folks will brainstorm on the ways in which that might not be the case, if past is prologue.

Wow....If I was closer I would look at this for my brother who is looking for a good deal on one. I like the color combo...and it does look clean inside.

+1

If this were local I would be all over it. Already have an engine to drop in.

If this is true , "found a small water leak near the spark plug" , then it sounds more like a cracked head. But who knows. Does mean the engine should come out and go looking for the problem. So full gasket set,t-belt, waterpump, wires cap rotor, hoses etc. etc.
Needs someone where the fun part is fixing not just driving.

I live by the philosophy that if you own a 928 long enough you will eventually do a head gasket or "engine out" service.

Better to start with one like this and get everything sorted out in the beginning.

Right better to buy for $3,000 and KNOW you must do the work instead of paying retail for a running driving car and have the water pump seize on the trip home or shortly there after. But you like working on cars as many do.

Geez. It's an 86.5 in my preferred color combo. Paint on mine is pretty weak and black/black is not my favorite, but my engine is in great shape. It's very tempting to buy it and swap motors. I could probably get back $2k just in the easy part out of my car (suspension, good interior, leather quarters, good front spoiler...)

Only downside is it's an automatic... Someone talk me into or out of an easy swap of my manual into this thing.

Or maybe buy the car, buy a used engine from 928 intl and refurb it and drop it in. I'd hate to dismantle a perfectly good car.

My wife is on board, which means any obstacles at this point are surmountable.

One's first 928 is just a gateway drug to, well, the next 928.

I'm not convinced that you're a voice of reason, Rob.

Well, I bought mine in similiar condition from TX. He was asking 3500 but I got it for 2k. I rebuilt the engine for a few more $$$ and now have an awsome car. If I were closer, I would buy this one for a new project.

Someone should be all over this. Looks like excellent cosmetics. My dad told me when I was a kid, above all else, when buying a used car, look for one that has excellent cosmetics.
