This is overwhelmingly sad news. I've never met, or communicated with Andre, but like so many always enjoyed HIS postings here on Rennlist.
I agree with the previous posting, but will modify it slightly: "We all have our demons, I just hope they never get me or my loved ones". Dan's poem is wonderful as well at this time of sadness.
I, like so many others who have - and hope everyone who reads this - will make a contribution to assist Andre's family with their future financial challenges.
For any of the rest of us who are struggling with demons - PLEASE seek help - psychologically and spiritually. Our condolences to his family and personal friends, and may Andre rest in peace.

I saw this yesterday, and am still at a loss of words...
I last saw Andre at Sharks in the Park. He had asked for a part that I thought was irreparably broken and he thought he could fix. He seemed super happy to get it from me and gave me a hug. There was no indication of trouble, or even stress. Some of his kids were with him, and everything seemed as usual.
Funny, when I think of him, I often think about an exchange I had with his daughter a few years back. She told me that being the only girl in the family was hard, as she has to defend herself against the older boys and beat them up occasionally. With Andre watching the conversation, I jokingly asked her how the "oldest boy" in the family was behaving.
She thought for a moment and said something like: "He's not as annoying as the other ones."
Andre was beaming when he heard the answer...

RIP Andre......you were a great friend...
I was at Andres HOME in early June picking up parts......he gave me a great deal on a clutch intermediate plate.... We split shipping on a bunch of parts we both bought from Keith......
We were talking about 928's, BMW's, his houses security system, all kinds of stuff.....he was his usual happy talkative self......damn.....I wish I could have sensed SOMETHING to help him out...

It's awful to be joining your group and your thread under these circumstances, but I was invited to do so by Dan Hebert, one of your members. I am Andre's wife, and I'm not sure what the account on Reutterworks says, but it is true that on Friday, July 13, 2012 around 11p.m. PDT. Andre took his own life, in front of me. He struggled with his inner demons in many areas of his life, but here on Rennlist and with his car-enthusiast community, he was as happy as he ever was. You all were community to him, and he valued your friendship, laughed aloud at your humor, crowed over winning a good-natured argument with you. He tried so hard to live the "pay it forward" approach, and for that I will always be proud to have been his wife. The kids and I are struggling with our grief, but one thing that makes us smile is to hear stories of our beloved Andre from people who interacted with him online or in person. If you have a story you'd like to share here on the thread, I will collect and save them for the children to read over the years. Our youngest child is 5 years old and it is unlikely that, in coming years, he will have very many of his own memories of his dad. Your memories will help. Thank you all so much for the light you brought to Andre's life. I'm so glad that in this community, he was able to feel "whole". I wish it could have carried over into the rest of his life. Again, in case you are in the Bay Area, his memorial service will be at 4p.m. on Friday, July 27, at First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, corner of Dana and Channing, near the UC campus. There will be an "open mic" time for remembrances there, too. Thank you all, and God bless you. Val

Val,
I'm so sorry for your loss! I didnt really know Andre, except through his posts here. I'm sitting here reading your thread in disbelief and sadness. My prayers are with you, your family, and Andre.
God Bless.
