Default Hood switch - how connected

Original hood switch was missing, want to install a new one. Are the wires soldered to the switch or do the wires plug into the switch with soldered on pins?

There should be a plastic connector. It is odd looking.

Since there wasn´t a plastic connector listed in PET for our 928´s, I looked in the 944 PET and found a plastic connector to the same switch. I bought that one, but it was just the connector, I seem to be missing the pins. I need to post a picture.

Doing a search and bumping this thread because I saw an inconsistency.

Leon, that part number for the rubber boot you mentioned is actually the oil level sender boot. It's NLA, as you say... but you associated it with the incorrect part.

Has anyone found a suitable replacement part for that boot on the hood switch?

Do we have the part number for that boot, or is purchasing the switch new the only option? Does the switch even come with a boot, or is it just shown in the picture?

Switch comes with the boot. Available from Porsche or 928 int...etc. If the old one is gone or disc. you may have to trace down the wiring to get it to work correctly.

In PET 87-91 it is the part number for the hood switch boot. Which listing are you looking at? Maybe they are the same. But alas NLA.

I used a shop in Germany which supplies all kind of hard-to-get metal and rubber parts for old and young timers. Great shop!

It must be both... now I can't find my source for that picture. Regardless, as you say, NLA.

That ebay seller looks promising... which part have you determined works as the connector boot for the hood switch?

I think it was this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/1x-Gummikappe...item5b028d0635

It's not perfect but it fits.
