The breather system for the GTS has been studied well by Herman Koster and Greg Brown and new systems developed that are much better than is what/maybe available currently. My Sharkvent is coming off to add Herman’s design which is much more advanced. I am sure Greg's will be good as well.
Talk to Herman about his system and you will understand the benefits.
I drove approx. 800miles and used way less than a quart. Car has 133k.
I also believe it needs at least a 100k for the rings to bed in on a GTS.
The addition of S3 modified cams made a HUGE difference to my GTS.

Please keep me in mind for both Herman's system and the cams when you are able to market them. Thanks,Eric

The less oil vapors consumed should also equal better milage. I'll be able to help Herman confirm that as soon as I get my dipstick tube altered for the oil drain-back. FWIW, as we've both discovered and despite what's in the PET, an S4 dipstick tube is not the same as a GTS'.

Those interested in the shark vent should - in my opinion, look very closely at what Herman Kostner has developed. It certainly appears to me that it is a full step beyond the shark vent in both form and function.
Those who might have seen it on his car and on the table behind it at OCIC can chime in. I think he's on a path to get the final design ready to produce, and Roger is planning to market it. It is very well thought out technically and with regard to using space in the engine compartment.

The cams are reground and modified S3 cams. Apparently the GTS cams don't have enough meat left on them stock to be much good for a custom profile. The grinding (and profile) are by Dmitri Elgin. Dave didn't have much information about the profile and suggested I call Elgin about that.
The raised idle is just a Sharktune with the GT idle applied.

Herman's Provent System
There are several close up photos of Herman's system in the photo links I posted in the OCIC sticky. It's an impressive system and well thought out. Added it to my "futures" list as a must have.

People at OCIC wanted to know more about the Bernoulli effect
Porsche used the principals of the Bernoulli Effect to recirculate the 928 crank case vapors back to the TB via the oil filler neck base on the early cars and OFN top for the later (GTS) models vent located at the PS top of the OFN.
By adding the Provent oil separator to the factory designed crank case vent loop vent loop oil and oil vapors are returned to the crank case and cleaner air is returned to the TB.
To see an interactive demo and explanation of the Bernoulli Effect go here > http://mitchellscience.com/bernoulli...iple_animation

I went EXACTLY 700 miles round trip to and from Wichita.
Burned about 1/2 quart.
I used the Bernoulli Effect to consume approx 15 adult beverages the last night of the OCIC. If were not for Herman's expertise and his keen explanation (along with his mockup) there is NO way I would have been able to accomplish this!!!
I will say one thing. Kenny (Finally) must have utilized the Bernulli Effect as well on Saturday as he looked like complete Dog $##T on Sunday morning!!
And now back to the oil consumption report.........

A reminder of some oil consumption facts:
- A gasoline engine generates just over a gallon of water for each gallon of fuel burned.
- Some of that water gets by the rings and valve guides and gets into the oil.
- Weeks or months of relatively short trips doesn't get the oil hot enough to evaporate the water.
- An extended trip evaporates the water as the oil gets hot and stays hot.
This is the reason that folks used to say that their engine burned no oil around town, but used a lot on trips...

That's what I was thinking too Wally, but you said it much better. Seems to be consistent comments that oil consumption was higher on the trip out and less on the way back. That goes with what Wally said - You're burning off water, maybe up to a quart that's in the sump, on the way out. Then you replace that quart of water now gone with oil that probably doesn't burn off as easily, so you have less oil consumption on the trip back... I think that's the way it works...

I think maybe Kenny asked Rhonda to carry him to his room Saturday night and she volunteered me. No big deal. I guess Kenny declined at that point as I didn't hear anything else about it.

You know that there is a problem when....
Anytime there is an event where a group of 928 travel farther than across town, there seems like there is always a thread about oil consumption. Obviously, there is a problem.
There's two other threads running, right now, about this very same topic. One is a thread about Herman's ideas and the other is a thread about the new Ventilation Kit, which I have just released for public consumption.
Thre's a lot of information (and some things that have never been talked about before) in both of these threads and it would be worth your time to read these threads, too.

Some of these guys, like Chuck, never put their foot in the throttle so there is no need to check the oil
