A leakdown test would give you an idea if it was a ring or valve.

Car has been boosted and utilized.
Time for refresh.

sadly if it is a broken ring problem those broken rings usually score the cylinder and at best it needs to be overbored honed and oversized pistons....worst case is a new "good used block" which actually might be the least expensive option but means running used parts with unknown history.
The car should run O K with 120 psi of compression especially with boost much less than that and the cylinder will not fire. The way the plugs look this engine was far from being tuned correctly and not a surprise that it has some problems.

It will not "be fine". It will have a ton of blow by while under boost and it will pressurize the crank case something fierce.

Good point about blowby under boost. But without the blower unless the bore is very badly scored most engines will run O K with 120lbs of compression on one cylinder.

I believe the "15K" in the thread title is the asking price.

Will consider all offers. I would also consider a 928 plus cash difference.

I am in a pickle here. I do not have the money to repair this car and want it to go to someone that will take care of her. She is a absolute beauty with thousands of parts on her. I wish I could keep her.
If you are interested pm me. I need to let here go quickly!

11K OBO. Consider trading for another 928.

Where is this car now and in what state of repair? What kind 928 are you looking for? Pristine, daily driver or fixer upper?

The car is at DR's. It has been there since Jan. We had a deal to trade the SC system and the car was going to be returned back to stock. Never happened.

You all have as much info as I have. Over half a year the car has been there and I just found out about the compression. Things move slowly in the mountains.

I would like a car I can drive! DD. I believed this car to be perfect, and it held together for a week. Oh yeah thats right. I wasn;t suppose to drive it WOT! The car is awesome, I mean awesome I just got it in a wounded untuned state and driving it hurt the motor.

Soooooo you weren't aware of the car's status at the time you acquired it??
