not to be a naysayer, but just because it starts and idles doesn't mean there isn't valve damage. you need to do a leak down and compression test like several here have mentioned. If it passes then you have indeed dodged a bullet... but I'm going to bet at least 2-4 bent valves.....

Just curious.

But I agree you should do a leakdown or compression test. With the two cars locally who had similar belt failures, we did that before starting the cars.

Next time you buy a lottery ticket, buy one for me too.

Don't do any more reassembly until you know for sure.

Once it passes a leak down test then buy me a lottery ticket too.

Good luck and, it does sound great.

Now get busy on that leak down.

I ran it for an hour to bleed the coolant.
I wanted to know if there was any change as it warmed up but I did not notice anything out of the ordinary.
I plan on doing a compression test this weekend, I hope, but I wanted the engine warmed up, lifters pumped up and then I will get a true reading.
It has been sitting for just about a year.

I forgot how long it had been. A compression test, even a cold one, should answer the question.
