Question Fuel Pressure Damper Question

hi. I received my fuel Pressure Diaphragm Damper today from 928SP. The Porsche part # written (by hand) on the box is 930.110.602.00. This # is good for the 1986 model. The Bosch part # on the part itself is 0 280 161 021. My 928 is a 1991 and the Porsche part # should be 930.110.602.01. I don't know what the Bosch part # should be.
-What is the difference (is there is any) between the two?
-Would the one I have in hand fit for my 1991?
My mecanic is not ready yet to do the job, but I want to make sure it fits before I bring him my car.

Thank You.
Bertrand - Cobalt Blue 1991 S4.

Any update on this part number? I have the same issue with another supplier...

Felix

Felix,

It's been a while but, if I remember well, I think it was not the good one and exchanged it for the right one.
...But that's a long time ago and not 100% sure.

Assuming you are putting this damper in your S4 pictured in the avatar, 930 110 602 00 / 0 280 161 021 is the wrong part. It is used in '84-89 911's and '83-86 928's.

For '87-95, AFAIK the Porsche and Bosch numbers should be as follows:

Front damper (3 ports, inlet on the bottom):

928.110.202.01
0 280 161 034

Left rear damper: (2 ports)
930.110.602.01
0 280 161 035

Right rear fuel pressure regulator (3 ports, outlet on the bottom)

1987: 928.110.198.02

1988-95: 928 110 198 04

0 280 161 297

Now, whether using the 930 110 602 00 damper in an S4 has any functional effect, I dont know. But I tend to believe that if Porsche went to the trouble of spec'ing a different damper when they changed the FPR in '87, there must be some reason the 602 00 isn't ok. But perhaps Bertrand will chime in with what he ended up doing.

Correct Bosch number is 0280 161 035 = 930 110 602 01
Currently not available under the Bosch number from my many sources.
Only available as 930 110 602 01 via Porsche and my price is $191.

I got this from a Bosch catalog that may be superseded:

0 280 160 262 > 6/87
0 280 160 297 7/87 >

No doubt that Roger is the MAN. Just hoping that 0 280 160 262 is the right part number for an early 87 as I picked one up for my future PorKen chip install in my 86.5.

Thank you so much everyone for your responses. I found the correct part for my vehicle is indeed 93011060201 or 0280161035. The other part number mentioned ending in 297 is for the FP regulator. I found that the part number was changed from 86 to 87 and later to accommodate higher bar pressure (3.8 vs. 3.5). I get the same price Roger is getting at PCNA Dealers. Roger, I will touch bases with you soon and thank you for everything you do for us on the forum.

Roger,

I hope you are looking for other after market suppliers in China if that's the goong price these days!

Last time I purchased a complete set of 3 [about 9 years ago] I think I paid about $200 for the complete set!

What did we get into?

Regards

Fred
