Default Hard shift to Drive

I had just changed my automatic fuild and filter. All gears change, upshift/downshift are smooth. From Park to reverse is smooth. The only problem is from Park/Neutral to Drive, the shift is harsh and clunk.
Had checked all the vaccum lines in the engine bay and seems all ok and connected.

Any suggestion please. Thank you.

Was it doing that before the fluid/filter change? Check the fluid levels? Was the transmission regularly serviced prior?

Check to see if you have knocked the vacuum line off the modulator valve. CHanging fluid should not make much difference.

A recheck of the fluid level might be in order.

Will check the fluid level again. I had a garage shop changed the fluid for me. I don't have a stand so I will use my phone and flash to take a photo for me under the car to check. Thks.

That could be interesting.

You could be a great number of quarts low..this shop familiar with the 928 procedure to fill and check fluid?

I did my best to taught them how to fill the fluid. I even left a copy of manual to them but I did not watch them doing it so I guess I need to find it out after checking. The place I live I cannot jack up my car and work under it so I have to rely on some garage shop. Too bad.

I took this picture with my mobile phone with the engine is off and cold. I have no access to get under the car to check.
Very hard to tell if it is full or totally empty.
What do you think?
Cheers.

Fluid level in tank is totally meaningless when the engine is not running. To check the transmission fluid, the car must be level front-to-rear and side-to-side, and the engine must be running, with the transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL. The fluid level must be between the max and min marks on the tank.

I will check again with the engine running. Does the trans need to be fully warmed up for checking or just have the engine running will do?

Cold, but car running, it should be at or slightly above the lowest of the three lines in the clear window. Hot (car running) it should be between the two upper lines (Min - Max).

What fluid did they use?

Great pictures with your phone. With the car running you'll be able to see the fluid level. The fluid is dark. Once you turn the car off, the level rises as the fluid drains back into the pan, so the whole reservoir window looks dark after a sitting a short while.
