Default 928 Rally in car (again) - from sunny Ireland

http://youtu.be/61VlF8Py404

Just to help you all sleep on a Sunday - same stage as some of you may have seen before (Molls Gap) ... only this time, we were 20 secs quicker than our previous best ever ! (sounds easy ....... try it sometime )
Mixture of tyres and effort ?? ............. I need to watch the two videos side by side sometime, to try and see where we make the time.

Hi Cortina, no - please keep posting these links. Its great for us wannabes to see a 928 (with the steering wheel on the 'right' side) being driven so well.

In retrospect, how hard do you think you were driving, 9 tenths, 9 1/2 tenths??

Cheers

Dave

I love 'em .. and the one you've just posted I've watched most of your vids multiple times.

I missed this post because it fell on a weekend, and got quickly shunted down the line by other threads before I noticed it.

Don't be discouraged ... and please keep posting. I'm sure a lot of others feel the same way.

Thank you both for holding the 928 flag so high!

Dave
I've seen a few moments where he's driving 11/10 and nearly worn a wall ... .... looked fairly ballistic in that last one so I'd say close to 10/10.

I'll be interested to hear his answer.

I would have said about 8.5 ........ never plan on getting to 10 (gets much too expensive !!)
Have just ordered new springs for front (500lbs) and dampers are away to Bilstein ... hmm ..........

Lost 13kg out of back end before last event ... planning on something similar to front over next few weeks (eat elephant in small bites ....)

Yes , front camera shots are good .... makes it look a lot faster !!

Competition : 10 proper historic cars out : Us , 2 Porsche 911's, A Volvo 144 (unusual !) , 2 Minis , and 4 Ford Escorts (mix of Mk1 and 2). Only 7 of those 10 finished , and we were 2nd - 54.4 secs behind an Escort

That car sounds fierce. My neck hurt from leaning side to side while watching the clip. Awesome.
I’m completely uneducated about rally stuff. What is the significance of the numbers he’s relating to you about the upcoming corners? It seems to be a 1 – 5 scale. Is that how you rate the upcoming curve?

Yes , 5 is tight and a one is flat ... takes a wile to get "into it" - notes are normally read 1 to 3 corners in advance ..... no point in telling me it's a 5 as I approach/ enter it at 120mph !!!

The other numbers like 80 - is distance in yards before next corner called.

A few questions ....
When do you get your shocks back and will you be running them in your next event?
What feedback did you get from the Bilstein tech people?
What have you been removing to get weight reduction?
What's next as far as improvements are concerned?
What's on your modification wishlist?
When's the next event?

Are those cabin air vent tubes on either side of the dash? Possible to post a pic of how you set these up?
