Correct, it was empty as of last week and is being filled now. The maint mentioned is from it being freshly resurfaced, and heating system repaired.

They can not test the heating system to verify it is fully functional until it is filled, but either way, I was assured it will have water in it and ready to be used.

Being part fish too, just being near water makes me happy!

See ya soon,

Dave

Looks like it's going to be another great event - next year for sure for me. This year was too soon on the heels of my move back east. Post lots of pics folks.

Martin, I'm up for Mexican, has anyone else weighed in? I should be there around 6:30 - 7:00 PM

Anybody who needs more details, let me know, I live less than 10 miles from MM1.

Default Sunday Sharks at the Pool - Lunch Menu

BTW, just got an email about the Lunch Menu for the Sunday Pool Party!!

If I am reading it right (still need to call to confirm a few things) I am impressed!

Almost sounds too good to be true for a Buffet Style, all you can eat type deal...

Hamburgers
Hotdogs
Grilled Chicken
Potato Salad
Plus Chips, all sandwich fixings. condiments etc
Water and tea

$7.95 per person.....

This OK for everyone??????

I plan on being there! Not certain if I'm bringing the shark or a rental as my right taillight sockets are corroded and some bulbs are inop (. Also, recently had rear-ward fuel system out (tank, pump, etc) and have only put 25 miles on her since. Banner Elk is a long tow home. Still pondering...

BTW, I'm going through the Nantahala Forest northeastward from Lake Ocoee on Friday. I'm staying at Lake Ocoee from Tue-Thursday to take in some hiking, etc. Anyone coming up through this route on your way in on Friday?

Somehow all the planets have aligned and I will be able to make it this year . Dave, do you still have any of those parts laying around that can upgrade a supermodel kit to a kenne bell?

Have faith...plus you will be in the middle of one the largest gatherings of some of the best 928 minds you can find anywhere.....and if you can stay up long enough for everyone to pass out on Friday or Saturday night (good luck with that)...there will be lots of spare parts available in the parking lot if you need any....Ha, ha ..JUST KIDDING!!

Dan, glad you are able to make it, saw your reg come in the other night. Only thing I have left that would help upgrade that would be a new "uncut" Series 1 upper casting...If you want one let me know and I can bring it with me.

Hi Randy,

Yep getting close now... Concerning headcount I think Jeannie ordered approx 150 name badges on Friday. That doesn't count the "blanks" for all the people that show up without registering. All in all looks to be about on par with a normal Big Fun SITM crowd once again! :-) No matter what the headcount is, we always have a BLAST!!!

Still hope you can make it to SITM one year (or more),....it would mean a lot to all of us!

Cheers,

Dave

Can someone who knows the usual route taken from MM1 on the BRP please share it here? I'd like to review the route and plug it in to my GPS. Also, as my drive looks to be about 12 hours I'm thinking I may want (or need) to cut my jaunt down the BRP shorter than many of you as depending on where we get off the BRP could add several hours to the trip. Thanks.

Thom, last year I met up with the crew outside of Roanoke. Trust me, you don't want to miss a minute of that drive. I definitely should have joined in from the start.

Last year, we had a little detour I think because our exit was closed? Ended up finding a pretty awesome back way of which I made a video. Can't do that this year; the video that is (5 speed!).

Anyway, I think we're going to get off at NC Rt. 221, south of Blowing Rock (221 crisscrosses the BRP several times), to 105 North, to 184 North. Fellas?

There are several cutouts available (which I might take, depending on how my arms feel; no power steering right now!). Best bet for a shorter BRP experience is to pick up 421 east of Boone, NC.

Default Best Western Availability

I had to cancel my reservations for this weekend. The Shark will be on the lift getting a new clutch kit, and I just can't finish before Friday, due to WORK!

Anyhow, I spoke with LeAnn at Best Western, and she said to let the group know that, as of right now, she has a couple of openings for rooms for the weekend.

The most direct place to get off the BRP to get to SITM for those coming from the North,is the shortcut down Shulls Mill Road at the southern Blowing Rock exit... Most of us locals use to bypass the traffic and redlights of Boone...

Exit the Blue Ridge Parkway between Mile Marker 294 & 295. The exit sign will indicate Highway 221/Blowing Rock. Go approximately 50' and take your first right turn (you never actually get on Highway 221) which is Shulls Mill Road. Follow Shulls Mill Road until you get to NC 105 near Foscoe, turn left on 105, go to the first redlight at Tynecastle Road, take a right to go to the Banner Elk.

Here, Google does it better than I can...

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=%2...ra=ls&t=m&z=12

But, be aware Shulls Mill Road is VERY curvy and tight...so if you arms are tired you should reconsider. Also it does have a fair amount of residential housing along it.....most of the locals use both lanes in the turns, so watch yourself...but it is a fun nice drive and the quickest/shortest way off the BRP to Banner Elk when coming from the North.

See ya soon!!
