Default Who has a blown 4.5?

Im looking to talk to anyone who has put a supercharger on a 4.5 to get some more info. Im considering building a kit for myself and am curious about any adverse effects anyone may have had so I can prevent myself from having such problems. I already know about replacing the head gaskets. In case it matters my car is an '81 5 speed with about 75000 on it.

Almost all of the blown 4.5s have been done with one of Carl's kits (928 motorsports). Usually reported to work out pretty well.

The 4.5L cars are a good candiate for boost....they only were 8.5 CR stock....but I would get an 80-82 L jet with its 9.0 CR since the cams are better for boost with less overlap than the early 78-79 cams had....

I cracked 3 pistons under boost with my 4.5L. My advice, pull lots of timing.

I have a turbo'd 4.5 liter. It can be done with the stock engine management but you will likely never be satisfied with it. It's just too crude to get a decent tune. If you decide to boost with the stock L-Jet I will have some 29 lb injectors available soon. They have only a few hundred miles on them. I will also have the rising rate fuel pressure regulator that goes with them. It too only has a few hundred miles on it. I am going to a Megasquirt 3x engine management.

Thank you all. Fabio, I was originally looking to go the turbo route but theres limited info and no one really seemed like they wanted to give up any info on the DIY kits. Other then turbo lag, IMO it would be better then supercharging but at this point Id settle for any info I can get. Im looking for pics on mounting locations for superchargers. As well as brands to use and results with a stock 4.5..Also what size pipes intercooled or non intercooled. Keep in mind this is a STOCK engine.
