Default New owner in Hermosa Beach needs look at his new 928

New owner in Hermosa Beach just bought an 86 and could use some experienced eyes on it. Looks like the seller didn't do smog, or mention missing cats etc. He needs to get an idea of how much of a mess it is.

A lot of the new people I try to help and point at Rennlist have trouble with it, registering vs joining, so pointing them here without a backup wastes time. Search barely works here, mostly I get a bunch of seven year old threads.

Guys... He doesn't even know the airbox inlet in his second photo is blocked (why I don't know, they just did that '85-'86) and no one is telling him. If he came here at least he could read for a couple.. hundred hours...

You need to go to "Advanced Search" here - even for a basic search, as it then defaults the result order to chronological.

I still use Google for the more unusual rennlist searches.

As a guy that is a career software person that sells search software as part of the solution and gets how it shoud work and a relatively new RL member I can tell you this board is not easy to navigate. New guys also get beat down fairly quickly if they ask too much or what the masses deem a dumb question. Be helpful and patient.

I am going down to Hermosa tomorrow to see if I can help Bill assess his smog and registration issues and check out the car as best I can. I will have my 100% smog legal and stock 928S 32 valver as a reference.

Might want to have him check if back delinquent registration is due in Ca. It can be hundreds of dollars.

I just helped get a 91 registered for the first time in several years - DMV wanted over $1700.

Yes, the Pelican board is taking it very easy on him. He would have been flogged mercilessly here for failing to get a PPI, overpaying and buying an unregistered car.

Hope Michael can help him out.
