Help with a trans number
I picked up a trans today and the person that I picked it up from thought it was a 3 speed. From the look of the trans and the number on it i think it is a 4 speed LSD. Here is the number 722 270 12 01 722 316 02 298711. I really need a 3 speed as mine is toast. So if any one would want to do a swap of some sort let me know.

Casting number doesn't mean anything to me, what is the number stamped into the bottom of the differential area. Starts with A28

a28 /01 is all I can see. And it is stamped underneath in the center of the trans just before the pan.

That is 4 spd, earlier was A22 something.
Post your location for a possible swap, not something anybody would want to ship.
If you can get the torque tube and some other parts I think the 4 spd can be made to fit, maybe cross member, but I don't recall details.

So from the break down on the link with it having a A28/01 it is an 84S 4 speed auto. From what I have read I would need a bunch of parts to make it work in place of my 3 speed.

What is the rest of the stamp code where you found the A28/01 number?
The serial number plus the other tags there would help clarify the point.

Being I once lived in both Nashville and Franklin, and both are considered Middle Tennessee, can you post at least a county?
