Default Replacing Side Mirror Motor?

I need to replace the mirror positioning motor on the driver side as the small tabs that connect to the mirror assembly have broken.

What is the procedure for routing the wiring harness through the mirror body to the connector located behind the door panel?

Thanks.

There's a male/female connector in the door behind the mirror you'll see it when you remove the mirror

Remove the entire mirror from the door, or just the mirror inside the teardrop case?

If you need to change the motor, remove:
1) The mirror glass.
2) The motor (3 small screws if I remember well) from the teardrop case.
Then you will see the male/female connector.

This might help you too:

Randy....you have to release the wires from the connector and feed them through the mirror assembly.

remove the glass by turning the 'wheel' from below through the small hole in the housing. the motor is secured by 'philips' screws IIRC

OK guys, thanks.

So once I remove the mirror motor it's just unplug/plug the new motor?

No need to remove the door panel - right?

Right, you don't need to remove the door panel.
Very easy unless your new motor needs new wire terminals and connector.
My new motor from my aero mirror kit didn't come with the terminals and connector installed.
Not a big job but you will need the right tool.

What tool do I need to swap the connectors, and where can I find one? I imagine it's one of those little plastic pin release things... but what size?

I used the D-sub pin extractor from the following link.
http://www.jameco.com/1/1/765-305183...e-2-20-16.html

I should note that I did the mirror switch on my 89S4, but I simply reused the old motors in the new aero housings. If memory serves me, the new motors use micro connectors, so I'm not sure the 305183 extractor will fit/work with the new connectors. Maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in.

Bumping this one.

I need the micro pin extractor tool to remove the old motor wires from the connector.

Any leads on where to get that tool?

Thanks.

That is not the micro one. This is the one I purchased to convert my flag mirrors to cup. It is mentioned in the write up on 928Intl hints.
