Default Opinion on this oil

QS Ultimate Durability, full synthetic, $20 rebate on 5 quarts, so ends up being $2-$3 a quart at autozone.

Only goes to 10W-30, is that good for a 928? Checking the site, not seeing any mention of the ZDDP content ...

Zn and P look pretty low, at least onthe 5W20 stuff. Here is a recent VOA.

Here is a UOA from a 2011 Caddy using the 5W30 formula. Again, Zn and P look low. Wouldn't put it in my car.

I would never use Quaker State or Pennoil (knowingly). They used to have a bad reputation (however I could never find any real proof about the statements that their oil was leaving waxy sludge)

Im more of a Castrol GTX/Valvoline/Shell Rotella guy. I did put the Quakerstate 10w30 in my girlfriends Honda (and she hasnt had any problems but her oil gets changed every 3-4 months .)

My mechanic preps a lot of Porsches for racing up at Summit Point....he suggested a not use Mobil 1 15W-50 and switch to MOTUL 15W-50 synthetic. $2 less per quart and he said it's superior to Mobil 1. I was convinced by "15W-50"...."synthetic"...."$2 less per quart"..."use it for racing". Oddly, the inside of my gas cap has a big red MOTUL sticker on the inside....I see it every time I fill up, but the PO used the Mobil 1. The MOTUL is in.

Motul full synthetic is almost twice as expensive as Mobil 1. Even the Motul semi-synthetic blend is more expensive. Do you know which Motul formulation he used? They have several 15/50.

3000
6100
etc.

BTW, Motul has a searchable database of recommended fluids for our cars. http://www.motul.com/us/en-US/products/35?f[range]=25

+1, on which planet is Motul cheaper than Mobil 1?

Well...more to this MOTUL oil than I realized. I think I remember seeing 3000 on the big jug. Whatever he's putting it in it I'm sure is quality stuff. He had it up on the lift and it is due for oil an oil change. I also wanted to get his opinion one what was or was not in the oil coming out of the pan.

It is possible he sells the oil at discount and makes up for it in service charge. I'm sure he knows what the oil goes for retail. He may be drawing in those who would otherwise DIY the oil change and figure it is not worth it to do it themselves given the deal he offers. Whatever...they did say it costs less and they held up the jug and it said synthetic on the label.
