Default Need trusted mechanic in NH or MA for timing belt

So the folks I used for my last TB/WP R&R are no longer in business.
I entertained the idea of doing it myself but after reviewing the write-ups and the manual I can accept that its probably beyond my scope adn skill set.
Looking for a trusted, and obviously experienced 928 mechanic to perform a TB/WP R&R in the Southern NH or MA area.
Appreciate any suggestions or referrals.
Thanks,
Tony

EPE in Natick came highly recommended the last time I asked this question (many years ago). I used them once seven years ago and was happy with their work. They aren't cheap though.

Other than that, I'm not aware of any go to 928 shops in MA.

There was a guy up in Manchester, NH with his own shop and 928 experience. Shawn something or the other. I don't know if he's still around (he did a timing belt job for me back in '04). I could probably find his contact info though if you'd like.

I had some work done at EPE and was not happy....that was a loooong time ago though.
took too long, found overlooked fasteners & etc, cost way too much, attitude toward water cooled, and general lab coat bullstip Looong time ago though They have a good BBB rating now by the looks. Dave Chamberlain is the guy to check with.

YMMV

I can vouch for Kevin Saltzman at Randolph racing in stoughton. He does know everything on these cars and there's usually a few in the lot.

It's been nearly 10 hrs since I last went to him, but he really does fix things as opposed to replacing. Seems honest too. Only drawback is turnaround time. You could be without your shark for weeks, but to me the good work was worth it.

Good luck!

http://www.autosportengineering.com/

I have used Autosport Eng'g in Stow, MA and always been satisfied. They have done Tbelt / tensioner twice over the years and know the 928. Also have done 134 AC conversion, ISV, and other service and no issues. Last year did motor mounts and silicon OPG and no issues, also

Ask for Mark ( owner).

Bob

EPE is not a savvy 928 shop!!!!! Opinions will vary, but That's mine.

Look up Dave Chamberland in Billerica. Known as "Worf928" on rennlist.

How is the GTS doing, Tony?

I guess this shows how out of touch I am with the local scene. DIY is the way to go. You could always throw a TB replacement party to enlist the local owners.

I thought Dave C was retired.

Let me know if my page of 928 shops helps, or additions/corrections need to be made.

http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/superinstall.cfm

This page is "on the bubble" - I am not sure I want to maintain it anymore.

^^^ Wow, Carl. That's great to have on a cross-country trip. I could see how it's a bitch to keep up to date with contact information and stuff, but still. I just dumped it into an Excel spreadsheet for my laptop just in case you do whack it. Thanks!

Thanks to all for the helpful replies!
I've spoken to a few folks about their recommendations and experiences.
Have also gotten a few estimates from Porsche dealerships with known savy 928 techs.
No decisions yet except that I will not be doing it personally.

Thanks again,
Tony

I really would call Dave C and ask who he would suggest, he will know who to go to.
