Seat replacement
Have a 928s. Looking to replace front seats. Car runs great now but need to work on cosmetics. With wifes kitchen remodel and 2 kids in college, need to get most bang for buck. Any suggestions?

Been offered a set of 95 GTS front seats, will they drop in my 82 Euro?

Somebody on ebay has recover kits in vinyl for a very good price. There are better kits, but these seem pretty good and a good price. I would say this would be the least hassle, the least shipping cost, and preserve the value of your car more than putting something else in.

The ebay company is Seatz MFG. Their vinyl seat cover set is ~$400 delivered and pretty decent quality.
Pretty steep learning curve on the first cover if you have never done one before. I have finished the passenger seat but not installed yet so can't speak to durability.
Company also sells bulk vinyl.

I had an email dialog with them about doing the seat fronts in leather instead of vinyl at one point. They said they could for an upcharge. I think it was another 200 or 300 for leather fronts.

I am preparing to offer leather seat kits, with my fit and tailoring, but with the factory level of details.
Black will be about $1000.00. A bit more for colors
These will be available in kits to be installed by the owner or local upholsterer only.
I am also preparing a step by step video to help with the install process.

karl, et al,
I'd be a bit careful of "cheap" leather seat covers. I shared a table with Rob Budd at the '11 Frenzy, and of course, upholstery was part of the chatter regarding 928's. Rob stated that very few upholsterers use "Automotive Grade" leather when they do leather seats. They use the interior household grades (like is on the $250 "full leather sofa/chair sets" at discount furniture outlets), which he stated DO NOT HOLD UP in the automotive environment of lots of sun, dramatic temperature changes etc. Might be especially true in the HI environment!! He also stated that there were very few manufacturers/distributors from whom you could purchase good quality automotive grade leather.
Only "hearsay" from someone who knows a lot about upholstery. As Sgt Schultz said: "I know nothing".

I found only two suppliers or Alcantara in the US that carry automotive grade Alcantara and NONE that carry the brand name Ultra Suede by Toray. I had to get automotive grade Ultra Suede shipped here from a Toray factory in Japan.
The cost for automotive grade leather, vinyl, and synthetics is about 50-60% higher than the regular furniture grade material.
Suppliers & cut rate trimmers with tell you it's "suited" for automobiles, but it doesn't mean its got the proper treatments for UV, stains, etc.

Wow, Paul. That's huge for me. I'm in Honolulu, and was thinking of having you do the front sports on my S4, but I was expecting something like $1500 just to ship them back and forth, which is discouraging to say the least. Do you know specifically what you will be offering? Sports as well as comfort? Rears as well?
