Is this the famous Bob Devore racer??

I would not be putting my face between any of those cheeks, never, never, never! Must go look at some skinny chicks to cleanse my mind.

(now) not surprisingly, many claims of that era have been shown to have been VERY optimistic.
Brian ... yes. Clearly pretty aero and optimistic hp numbers are good for business ... initially.

Upon further investigation I came upon this site which claims he built this car for the TexasMile race? Anyone familiar with this or seen it run there? 1100 horsepower sounds a bit optimistic, no? I think it only has Bob Devore fenders and may not be the actual car.

Three Wheelin'
This is from a 1990ish magazine story that was groundbreaking in that it showed that a 928 had potential for big displacement and power. It made a deep imression on me at the time and the idea of installing bigger cylinders for over 400 cu. in was planted.
At the time, the thought of doing anything like this to a late model supercar was unheard of.

Boy this is rich: http://worldwidebrother.com/index.ph...&id=3&Itemid=3
I notice that he is no longer claiming to have attended the "Harvard JFK School of Business"
He sure puts together some entertaining biographies. I'll give him that.

Thanks for that insight, Mike! Would still like to discuss doing a race engine with you too.

Does anyone know exactly what Bob did to get that kind of power? Was anyone else involved with him at the time that might be able to shed some light on the details? All I ever see on 16 valve engines are hybrids and a few superchargers but nothing in the 700 hp range.

Here's one such thread - mentions compression in the Devore car was likely in the 14:1 range:

I checked the Texas Mile web site and do not see any information supporting this claim.

I think my friend Mark Robinson goes to just about every Texas Mile and I am nearly positive he was at that one and IF there had been a 928 there running strong (like anything above 160 would be a big HP 928) he would have been ALL OVER IT!
I hope Jason Hart gets his super 928 racer on track sooner rather than later, but he has been working on it a LONG time and I believe that it is correct info that his dad and Devore built the engines together with Bud doing much of the work.
