GENERALLY..a range...
No repairs are required, just in the past mine were sprayed, but poorly (prep was bad, paint is starting to peel/sheet off).
Just wondering what I should be savin up.
Thanks

I assume since your asking you won't be spraying it yourself but will you be able to do the prep work? Actually painting it with the right paint and flex will be the easy part. But the Prep will take hours if you can do that you'll save a ton.
Here are some threads that discuss the process as well as why your bumper may be cracking.

Depends on the body shop. I have been working with a guy down here in SoCal for years on and off with different cars and he just did the nose, rear passenger quarter, complete back bumper and rear spoiler wing in black for $1200 cash. This included removing the rear quarter glass and repairing a nasty rust spot and a small chunk missing from the spoiler, other than that it was just fading or scuffed paint.
Hopefully that gives you an idea

I had bumper redone on a 93 300ZX that had the same issue. The bumper covers on the later 300ZXs seem similar in size and complexity tot he 928. I think it was around $700 about 4 years back. Mine started to flake off after about 6 months and had it redone. Apparently the first tech did not do a good job at getting off the molding release agent and the paint would not stick. Seems to be common issue on bumper covers that have poor prep work.
When I had it redone it was fine. You could tell a huge difference in durability once it was done properly and never had another issue with it before selling the car a couple years later.
Double check if you have any paperwork on the last paint job. A lot of body shops cover lifetime warranty on workmanship so if you have any receipts or warranty info they may redo it for free.

I paid $500 for a top quality shop in Oakland Ca which included media blasting I am very pleased with the outcome. I understand the the low end Miracle's will do it for $300. My car is not a stock color so we did not have a color code to go by
which could have added a bit to the cost. I spoke to a shop that would media blast and do the prep for $250
which did not include painting. Taking it off is not a big deal.
