Default Ringing/chirping/rotational rattling noise

Car is a '89 5 speed.

I'm getting a ringing/chirping/rotational rattling noise seeming to come from the clutch/bell housing area. Noise goes away when I push in the clutch. Noise is there when the car is in neutral, so I don't think it's torque tube.

Car had a complete clutch job including TOB less than 20K ago, but that was almost 10 years ago!

Sound like a bad TOB to you guys?

Sounds like clutch arm pivot bushing.

You can hear it chirping at idle in the beginning of this RMB video...

Thanks RKD.

By Jove, I think you've nailed it!

Is it the ball cup bushing that the top of the clutch fork pivots on? What the PET refers to as "Ball Socket?" PN 928 116 145 03.

Do you also think the RMS should be done at the same time as the pilot bearing?

I'm with MrMerlin on this one.

But the upper release arm ball cup is cheap and much easier to check and if necessary, replace so if you need one I'd go for that first. It's like chicken soup: couldn't hurt, right?

Then once you've done that if the sound continues it's probably the TOB.

So was mine.

Pulled the air box off yesterday and shot it Wurth HHS 2000 and the noise is GONE! I love cheap fixes! Of course I ordered a new "ball socket" for when it starts doing it again....

NICE! It's nice to be lucky sometimes.
