Windsheild Replacement - Boston Area
Any recommendations or places to avoid in the Boston area for windsheild replacement? Would prefer to get Sigla or Sekurit.

I thought that these and plinkenton ?sp were not available. Only Chinese made are available and there is a place near Boston is selling them. I will find their name and post it.

I had a very good experience with JN Phillips in Stoughton. They had done 928s before.
Chris just put a windshield in his '90 GT and located a place that carried the right windshields (not made in China). I can get and pm you the info tomorrow.

If you are looking for a good deal talk to Richard @ http://www.prosourceglassintl.com/contact.html
He has very good prices on quality windshields (Sekurit-Pinkerton etc.) and is located in MA. You can have it drop shipped to your installer or drive up there and have them do it on site.
Don't get a Chinese windshield, you will regret it.

FYI, there is no Sekurit availlable from from ProSource.
Richard has Chinese glass and Pilkington glass marked "Sigla".
FWIW, if the chinese glass quality comes into question because it's "wavey" and/or "soft"....
I would have to question the quality of the ProSource "Sigla" glass. Had mine for two years (6K miles) and I'm surprised at how many chips it already has.
Not only that, but at certain angles, it also has waves.
Ask Richard about his Chinese glass. His impression of the quality is rather good.

Is this based on personal experience?

Yes, this is based on my personal experience with Richard and his company.
No idea what his current stock situation is; I got mine about a year ago.
I don't work for them.
FWIW my understanding is that european glass is softer than others and will "crater" rather than crack like harder glass.
I'd be surprised if he was selling counterfeit chinese glass but if you say so...

I did not say he was selling anything counterfeit. Please read carefully before you insinuate.
AFAIK, Richard sells BOTH Pilkington and a Chinese "off brand".
For the record, I'm very satisfied with my purchase from ProSource. Matter of fact, I'm considering trying out their Chinese glass because it is the only one available with a bronze tint, similar to that of the early cars.

I just got my windshield replaced in June of this year. I ordered the glass from Prosource Glass, because everyone else had the aftermarket windshields. Richard got me a Sigla Windshield and Giant Glass in Weymouth installed it with zero issues. The Giant Glass contact was a gentlman called Guy 978-975-9861 ext. 113....Guy knows Richard and they worked out the delivery to Weymouth which was the closest location to me. They wanted to do it inhouse, because I told them that they had to guarantee a SAFE REPLACEMENT!!! They came through for me . Also, my insurance company covered the replacement. They have other locations north of Boston as well.
Goodluck!!

Finally got insurance approval for a new Sigla winshield sourced through ProSource. The windshield is shipping from Finland and will be installed by my local JN Phillips glass shop. I am happy as the first choice was Chinese aftermarket, but with a little persuasion the insurance company agreed on the Sigla. I hope to have it done in the next few weeks and will report the final outcome. Thanks to all who offered comments.
The upside to all of this is that it is replacing the original Sekuraflex Euro windsheild that had the plastic coating on the inside. This coating was badly gouged by razor blades during the PO's tenure by careless removal of inspection stickers.

Installed
Just to follow up and provide closure to this thread, my new Sigla windsheild was installed today by my local JN Phillips Auto Glass shop in Woburn MA. Much to my releif, it came out fantastic! They did a great job and went out of their way to protect the car, and to put my mind at ease.
The glass was sourced through ProSource, and took a bit over a month to arrive from Finland. In my opinion, it was well worth the wait, as opposed to choosing in-stock Chinese glass.
I was also very happy that my insurance company "compromised" by covering the middle priced option. Choices to them were, from lowest to highest cost: Aftermarket (Chinese); OEM (Sigla); Dealer Supplied. The cost of the Dealer Supplied made the choice for OEM simple in their minds....
Thanks to all who shared their advice/experiences.
