Great vids Mark! Looks like the front camera mount could use a little dampening.

Hey larry, thats awesome! the guys in the AV8SS heard about the project and are looking forward to seeing you out with us.

what did you do with the Vet 6 speed and all its adaptation? is the sequential still in the rear of the car?

yes, our last race is at thunderhill at the end of october. i wasnt going to do it, but if you go, ill be out there. Laguna is our next race and it should be a good one on oct 1-2. im signed up. Scot is going to laguna too. we should have his 13" S brakes ready by then.

They were sent directly to West Coast Cylinder Heads for porting work, but they didn't even know about the 1.550 requirement, so said nothing. Don't want to cut thru to the runner and then have two sets of ruined heads.

BTW, what is the AV8SS event shown on the TH calender for October 12?

Lots of great audio, banging off the rev limiter down the final straight for the drag race to the finish. (end of the video, rear cam)

I know! its a little cannon video camera and is just too light and small to tie down properly. however, the old videos seemed to be better, so maybe ill mess around with the angles of the I/O port camera mount to reduce the leverage points.

mark,

Great driving and video......

How would you compare driving your monster 928 to a early (69-79) lightweight 911 with a good amount of HP?

Thanks

The I/O mount seems to do a really good job of stabilizing the camera and letting you adjust to different positions. Happy with mine.

We're just getting the motor put back together today and tomorrow. Should have the entire drive train ready to go back in the car, but first will be taking a couple of pictures of it to post up here. We have a rolling cradle for the whole setup, which allows just two of us to do a complete R & R of everything, including the front cross member, motor, TT, tranny, diff, axles, hubs, and control arms in less than 60 minutes (out and back in from underneath). We leave the brakes connected, as well as the streering rack and pump, so we don't have to bleed the bubbles out.

The initial C5 set-up has been pulled apart in order to finish my car. Used the uprights and TT, but still have the motor, starter, clutch, fly, drive shaft, tranny, diff, axles, hubs and carrier. Will probably put them in an 86.5 chassis that we have or put in into a customer car.

First stop for my car will be on the dyno to break in the motor and do some minor tuning to account for some differences in the head flows. Then we are planning to be at T/H with ARC on the 23rd and possibly HOD on the 24th or 25th. Not really to race, just trying to work out shifting techniques and get used to not having ABS. If all goes well, I'll start to look at AV8SS then (don't have SCCA racing license, so have to deal with that).

having gone toe to toe with all sorts of 911s with near the same power to weight, including GT3 street car to race car conversions (see GTGP race against sofonas in the GMG GT3 racer), i can say there are trade offs. i prefer the 928 on tracks like laguna, but at sears, the lighter cars seeem to do a lot better. the 928 doesnt have the grip on the sweeping turns as the 911 does and I dont know exactly why. its not bad, but weight is a big issue. however, if you could get the 928 as light as the 911s you are competiting against, its got a lot of advantages. (wider, broader hp curve, can fit bigger tires and wheels, etc). the main thing is the cost to get the same performance. the 928 is unmatched in that department. no one has run a 1:36.1 at laguna with a cheaper, less modified race car than a 928.
