I think that offically there was only ever S and S4, and even then the S designation is confusing as it is something very different in US and Euro. I think the terms here are used with some consistency as follows:

Euro S: '80 to '83 Euro: CIS with big valves and cams
S: '82? to '84 US: Mostly just spoilers and brakes. LJet.
S2: '84 to '86 Euro : Dual Dizzy, LH, etc.
S3: '85 to '86 US: 32V
S4: Well, S4.

S2 were official names in the UK and Japan for the 84 - 86 310hp, 4,7L, LH. But S2 is used unofficially in other counties to separate it from the Earlier CIS (80-83) 300hp, 4,7L.

S3 was never officially used.

The 32V 5,0L engine (Slightly more hp US) was also an option ROW for the 86 model year, this car is also dubbed the S3, unoffically. However most ROW cars delivered for the 86' model year were with the 310hp 4,7L, LH.

Slightly less hp in ROW S3 than US S3 due to it having 9.3:1 CR low CR pistons vs 10.0:1 in US version. ROW S3 is rated 288 DIN hp while US version has 292 DIN which is 288 SAE net. ROW S3 288 DIN is 284 SAE net.

Very correct. I just wrote wrong, cause Im so used to writing more hp in the ROW. Yes. the US had 4 more hp.

The 944 also came in a S2 designation. It was badged that way as well, just like the 928 S4.

My 89 that came from Japan is not badged as an S4 and that always bothered me.
I don't know, so is there is a place the factory would put it on a decal?

Most of the S4s never had a sticker on rear bumper.
