(Big off-topic post here; sorry.)

The ShopBot Desktop D2418 is designed to be a wood/plastic/other soft materials machine, but it can do soft metals if you're very careful and don't push it too hard.

[I copied the above content and moved the rest of my previous, much longer post to a new Rennlist OT thread ShopBot Desktop: is it for metal?]

You're welcome.

Three units remain from the current batch. I'll start another batch of ten within the next week or two.

I'd would be interested in a pre-assembled unit. I noticed the web site is down, does that mean the dimmer is no longer available?

Ed,

Do you still have some of these dimmers available? If so, please put me down for one. Could you PM me the address for payment etc please?

Cheers!

I put Ed's dimmer into my Spyder after changing to LED Wedge bulbs. It works great.

My only problem is that I now need to replace the regular bulbs in my extra VDO Boost and AFR gauges to be LEDs otherwise, they're completely dark when the dash panel is adjusted where I want it when driving at night. Does anyone know a source and the bulb number for what goes into the standard slide in bulb holders in those older VDO gauges?

Sorry about that... I left town for a few days, and of course there was an infrastructure problem affecting the website almost immediately after I left. It's fixed now.

They'll be available again; I'm currently sold out but will whip up another batch ASAP and notify you when more are available.

Unfortunately, I can't help you there, unless maybe you post a photo of the bulb holders in question; I don't have access to any older clusters.

I'm hoping somebody else can help you: I know that a lot of 928s both old and new have been upgraded to use LEDs.

Aloha Ed!

Purchased a Protizmo AILD-1 (SN 000066) from you earlier this year. Unfortunately, when my vehicle was recently broken in to, the #$&Y@##s grabbed the cables/plugs for it (AILD-1 connection kit)!

Just posting here so if you see an order for just cables (if possible), you'll know where it's coming from...

Hope all is well!

Ed- how can you even be covering your costs of materials at $40 let alone your time and effort developing this and building each and every piece by hand??? What you've done is amazing! I wish I knew how create such things as you've done here...

It's not exactly a money-making proposition at this point, mostly due to labor (they're still hand assembled). It's just one of those satisfying (well, it was at first... ) projects I like doing from time to time to keep the skills up and see what else it might lead to. And there's the "community contribution" aspect as well.

And, in case anyone is wondering, I plan on getting another batch made within the next couple of weeks. Lots of stuff has been competing for my time lately.

Thanks for your comments. That kind of feedback is satisfying, too.

Ed,

Thank you for the fast shipping and great service. I received my dimmer module today, looks great!

For everyone else, get them while they last It is a great improvement/addition.

Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback, Carl.

The Audi community and, to a lesser extent, the Pantera community, have discovered these now, too, so they've snapped up a bunch of the current batch. There are four left in the current batch.

I'm having a hard time keeping up.

Hi Ed,

I'm accumulating all of the LED's for my brother's 89 digital dash upgrade according to your guide and have discovered that the B8.4D LED's don't seem to be available anymore. Will B8.4D HP's work in their place or will they be too bright?

Thanks,
Duncan
