Default Jamb Switch

Any tips or tricks on routing the ground wire for the door jamb switch (drivers side) on a 94 GTS ? The ground wire is now hanging down in the footwell by the hood release lever. Thanks in advance, 77Tony

stick a piece of mechanics wire into the hole for the wire,
fish around till you get it to come out the pin switch hole, then hook the wire and pull it out the switch hole, it can be done

Well, don't struggle, cut them and solder-splice in a new, longer replacement, already soldered onto the jamb switch.

Chris, I tried snaking a bendable wire through where the door jamb button mounts, and then from just above the hood release mechanism. Also tried shining a small flashlight through the door jamb mounting hole (with the garage lights off) to see if I could see where the light shines through on the inside to no avail. 1st pic below is the switched brown & white wire (electrical tape on the end), and the 2nd pic is the new door jamb switch. Also, super nice find on that # 1 Press car. 77Tony

As a last resort,
If you really cant get the wire routed then pull off the trim molding that runs down the body rib this will release the carpet edge then you peel back the carpet and there should be a hole that you can see into the kick panel , you may have to remove a computer to do this however,
and it will be easier if the lower crash bumper is removed thats also a PITA to remove

Yes, a little more disassembly. You have to be a bit of a contortionist no matter what.

(thanks Tony, saw your post and tried to pm you but your account wouldnt accept one, wish it were the DC GT)

The original wire is really short which makes re-connecting it a right pain even after you've got it through the hole. I extended mine with a few inches of wire which makes things a lot easier.

Have a small vice grip ready so that when you get it through the hole and see how short it is, you can put the grips on the wire till you get ready to attach an extension wire. Nothing worse then having to fish for it twice.

Make sure the mechanics wire hook is long(like 3/4 inch) and squeezed tight at the bend so that when you hook the wire, it gets pinched and then you can pull it without it sliding off your mech wire hook.

Good luck

Go to Sears, get one of these.

Works every time.
