You're funny, Glenn.

Why restore one 928, when you restore two at thrice the price!

I love it!

Don't forget I have 2 928's, a 71 Triumph Stag and 70 2+2 E-Type - all bastard children and I love it!

Elizabeth City, NC... just south of Virginia Beach.

On the trip, we'd figured I've pulled 928's out of Burbank CA, Houston TX, Omaha NE, Annapolis MD, Lake Tahoe NV, and now Elizabeth City NC.

We also figured the 928 count btw Charles, Chris and myself is now 11... plus a 944 and 951.

LOL Yea, it's a sickness.

Some more photos.

Car was owned last 27 years by a businessman who used it as a 3rd or 4th vehicle. Guess that accounts for the lack of interior wear.

He decided to park it about 10 or so years ago due to possible fuel relay issue and lack of personal time to mess with it. Outside, but covered.

Kudos to Jim for recognizing the significance of this early car to save it. The underside of this vehicle is remarkably clean. This one will grace country roads again, I'm confident. What a great day!

(Fender damage looks like a stationary mishap to me, maybe a tree branch? --- need a white one, guys!!!)

This car demanded immediate rescue. Hidden in plain sight.
It is "number 1", I think of the press cars.

One more shot. Amazing what $20 worth of quarters at the car wash can do for a dusty 928.

You're right, Chris. It is the first of the press cars. Only other 928's known to be built before it were prototypes.

Here's one of the few shots I have of it at the press launch '77. (photo courtesy of Joe Rusz R&T)

Nice save - looks like it was very close to being a parts car.

Very cool project to have!

So Jim, this one invalidates your prize from the oldest Porsche competition? Better send it back
