I'm slightly jealous (aside from the obvious practical issues like steering wheel on the wrong side ). I'm itching to get my hands on a '78/79 5-speed restoration candidate.. just have to figure out which 928's to get rid of to make space.

Suggestion is to find and add 2,3,4 and 5 to the lineup.
This one is a cool project.
Just showed the pics to a half dozen VW / Audi tuners, and a couple of PCA guys and they love it.

Well, I guess you survived this part of the ordeal
That interior is spectacular - the pleats are still good in the seats. This is a special save. I would not have been able to resist. Kudos to you too Chris - you get to live it vicariously - all the good stuff without the burden $$$

Exciting- Please take a lot of pictures and document this save/resto/cleanup in one long thread to make it easy to follow. And get to work so I can watch. Are you preparing to fire it up anytime soon? Gunar

This is going to become one of those threads which will become must reading for any 928 enthusiast, like the thread on James's '82.

Jim,
Car looks awesome!
Interior looks pretty nice!
Looks like you need a euro fender and get rid of the side markers and rub strip!
No sun roof!
Makes me want to get an early 5 speed, wife may not go for it!
You are the man!

That's just mind boggling that that white car is the first production 928. There are probably a crap load of man hours involved as that one was put together.

What a terrific save. I guess the rub strips were added later in life. Maybe you'll get lucky and they are only glued on.
Swap out the FP relay, air up the tires and take a spin around the block.
