Your Next Car After the 928?

Personally I can park about 16 cars on the place I developed, as you can see from the picture you posted, some inside and some outside. That doesn't count the 6 or 8 or more that I suppose I can simply park on the dirt.
Its all relative, I guess. And, the Kool Aid is just fine with a little Jack!

I'll concede reliability and HP potential to the Supra.

Panamera is my vote as I get older. But in keeping with the query "Your Next Car After the 928?" I just bought a 2007 F150 Lariat SuperCrew. I need nothing for awhile. 1 very cool car, 1 great truck and 2 motorcycles; Yamaha FJR and Vstrom 1000. I kind of look forward to the commute to work. Kind of thrilling at times.

10 years ago. The 84 928 would have been 17 years old and the supra would have been 3 to 8 years old. Most likely you bought the 928 because it was cheap and not maintained well. 84 being one of the least desirable years you are comparing one if the worst 928s to the very best supras that is 12 years newer.
I had three supras. All mk 3 s. I had more problems with those cars than any other I have owned. Especially the turbo 90. I know the mk 4 s are much better cars but a gts is alao a hell of a lot brtter than a 84 928. Have you owned a gts? Kinda hard to make valid point comparing apples to oranges .

For comparison, I recently picked up a 93 TT Auto MKIV with 120k on it. The car is 18 years old. Everything works. Original bushing and suspension parts. All in good order.
I did not talk about the GTS as it's my least favorite 928 with the 91/92 s4/GT being the one I liked the most.
I like both cars, no doubt 928 is the best car out of Germany. It was my beloved car when I was younger ( I wanted the car since I was 7). With time my preference changed.
Btw, I do not like MK3s at all.

For me Ferrari 456 and DB9 are only logical updates for GTS. 550 Maranello isn't at same class as its only two seater. DB7 has only inline-6, Jaguar coupes get really close being V8 but its engine is too small. All MB large coupes are not sporty enough, even AMG versions.

My next car will be some sort of beater POS.
OK. I've looked at VW GTI and CC. I like the CC.
Quick story:
Impressed the hell out of my son and his friend by taking them on a test drive of a GTI and having it smell strongly of hot brakes when we brought it back. Someone has to bed them in.

Three Wheelin'
Not quite same prices but must say one I had which wished I'd never sold and with minor mods was not only ver reliable but fast (approx 425 hp at wheels when I sold it), nice interior design and a gray looking car:
1990 Nissan 300ZX Twint Turbo
Should nit have sold it

CLASS!
STYLE!
BUILD QUALITY! (not talking about the parts themselves, just how they are bolted together...few cars are more SOLID than a 928!)
I will not replace a 928 with a MIV Supra, but I will add one some day!

Not gonna happen any time soon...but i have a hankering for a Lotus Turbo Espirit, or perhaps the normally aspirated version would be better. That would be next for me...might even be affordable :-)

I'm not trying to be mean to anyone, but if you look at the avatar pictures in this thread, you can see more "ricing" and off balance looking 928s than I have seen Supras.
My first car was a 928 (84) when I was 18 years old. I hated the Supra than, but after everything that could stop working in my 928 stopped working I sold the car. Supra came up and I bought it. Since then I never looked back. For the last 10 years my father and my brother ended up buying Porsches just to find out what I knew all along.
MKIV is a big upgrade to a 928 (even the GTS). Please list the things you know are better on the 928.
And by a Supra I mean a Twin Turbo (with factory wing) unmodified car except for a cool exhaust and lowered suspension. No Rice.

First look deep in the center of your Supra...there is something misssing...it's called a SOUL.
Secondly, take any Toyota and leave it out in the weather neglected (or not) for years and lets see how it holds up.
Here is a fun link for ya...
http://www.google.com/search?q=Ruste...w=1280&bih=647
and a sample pic..
NOW, here is a pic of a 928 that has been left out stripped on the dirt with trees growing out of it for approx. 10 years (Dec 2000 until May 2011)
....and a month ago after hours of shoveling mud out of it and rinsing it off (no soap)... good luck finding ANY rust on or in it. You are more than welcome to stop by and try to find some.
Try that with your Supra and get back with us in 10 years...we'll be waiting. :-)
A 928 has and WILL stand the test of time..AND not just in design and looks.
Cheers,
