Ha! Great clip. I forgot about that scene. I am looking forward to Season 3 of The Grand Tour. You've probably seen this but looks like Clarkson is using a GTV6 in one of the episodes..
Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes electric cars here. Liking them does not mean disliking ICE powered cars. It merely means a shift in how to conduct daily transportation, and finding a different way of having fun.

Fun? Really? I don't get it. Plug in power at the shop, still need to get to the pump. Maybe a darned good improvement in 0-60, but I don't drag race so it doesn't help me.

In 1972, my folks neighbor had an an Alpha coupe that looked almost exactly like that GT6 pictured (I think it may have been a GT6) you posted. Mind you, this was 45 years ago.
I was impressed. I thought the car was beautiful (I was 10). My father, a man who owned a 1969 MG C, honesty felt challenged I think, but never defensive. The Alpha was likely a more attractive car, but it wasn't as reliable as the MG, and anyone who'd ever had the honor of supporting an MG will understand just exactly how damning that conclusion is...

It’s a rapidly developing technology. Watch any recent YouTube video on a Tesla Model 3 Performance with Track Mode enabled. It’s beaten some notable sports cars. Randy Probst helped create Track Mode - there’s a unique ability to control the front and rear motors. It can do more laps than prior EVs before the battery gets too hot, but not much more than a few.
I just sold this black 4cyl one with a European twin spark motor... Funky, and fun, if you can stand the build quality reminiscent of a wet cardboard box. Incidentally there are three Callaway GTV6 twin turbos in my town (about 10 miles from Calloway's original shop in Old Lyme Conn.)
So its 7 years later and Randy still has the GTS... (me too).
I'm tending to agree with the basic premise though - I drive my GTS as a daily driver and while I will never sell it - it is becoming less practical as a DD, rather less miles a year might be kinder at this point (its just kicked over 140K and it needs the usual small things AND a few big things that will keep it off the road a while... repaint (original color), exhaust work and torque tube work. While doing those I'd need to take care of motor & trans mounts as a WYAIT. Its been tending that the little things like actually finding good tires for the stock wheels, AC leaks, windows that stop working etc are getting to be a constant annoyance, I need my DD just to work or be quickly fixed...
So while like Randy I don't currently have space for more than 2 cars - clearly I need a new house or at least an additional temporary garage/workshop space for now.
As for an alternate daily driver - I do think the new Panamera Sport Turismo is finally an attractive car to go with its better practicality (4 door hatch) and beautiful interiors, excellent handing & features. Certainly not cheap but adding a new actual "GTS" from Porsche seems the most logical choice (though I'd consider an E-Hybrid model too). The back end is not as sexy as a 928, but the front is better. Overall I think it is one of the best looking high end practical GT's. Having 4 real comfortable seats all with doors is a plus for me now, as is a little more space.
For me my daily driver will be another Porsche - there is no substitute and all that...
Got to save up some coins for the new car and house, at least I'll use up less gas!
