Aston Martin db9 - A bit OT
I'm quite a fan of the db9s and keep an eye on the ones for sale. Might be a replacement someday for my GTS.
Anyway, prowling around some forums and found this pdf of the db9 service manual: http://www.mediafire.com/file/3gvilh...009%202010.pdf
Made for interesting reading, to see how the major systems work, what can and can't be done with the engine in the car, etc.
And here's a shot of a particularly nice one, in a special-order color called "elusive blue" ...

My next car... (though along WITH 928's...not likely to sell any of my babies) will be a Maserati GranTurismo! The car is drop dead GORGEOUS, quite fast, and there is actually WAY more room in the back seats than in a DB9, 928 or Bentley CGT! They are beautifully trimmed out inside and out too! Just love them!

James,
Your choice is interesting, as that's exactly the car the original owner of my '94 GTS bought when he traded the GTS in at Ferrari of Houston. The sales mgr at Ferrari of Houston - a previous 928 GT owner - was very complimentary of the Maserati.

Both the DB9 & Vanquish-S(520HP) astons are nice cars & The Maserati Gran Turismo are nice cars, just coincidentally, a white convertible maserati gran turismo with the top down pulled up behind me yesterday, the car was beautiful! The problem with these cars is the parts & labor for repairs is exorbitant! If your rich no problem, I do like the Maserati, it is a big car at 193 inches long!

Check your spell checker... It is Aston, not Austin. LOL!
Totally agree with you! Both the Aston and the Maser are GORGEOUS! I am a little partial to the more in your face Maser and the fact that is it has more trunk and interior room and is finished out just as nicely as the A/M is a bonus!
Bill I agree with you on repairs! If the Maser (or probably the AM too) break expect huge 928 eclipsing repair bills!

In the mean time, this is my next car:
It's an '05 Coupe. I'm driving it back from Virginia this weekend. These cars share a lot of similarities with the 928 (similar size, front engine - rear transmission - connected by a torque tube). Not as attractive as the Gran Turismo, to my eye, but it is smaller, lighter, and has that Maserati sound and interior.

DB7s can be had in the 30's. 20's in some cases, but that is rare for retail. I love the DB9s. The DB7s are okay, but look too much like a Jaguar XK to me (I like the XKs as well but not at Aston prices). The interiors look dated compared to the other Astons from the last decade.
That Barret Jackson price for an low mileage '02 convertable seems low based on the prices I have seen.

I looked at some used DB 9's about a year ago and there is nothing better sounding when you hit that start button. I was dissapointed in how the interiors seem to hold up. I looked at several cars with under 20k miles and all showed signs of wear that I thought were disapointing.

I think there is no better modern street car than the DB9 or Vantage. If they are really in the $20s -30k, that might be my next extravagant car purchase!
