My comment about the car being a good value at $33k is still true. The provenance and ownership history is about as strong as it gets for a 928. This car has been meticulously cared for in its life and is well known by the enthusiast community. That compared to a low mileage, unknown, car that has been sitting for most of its life, represents a far worse investment when you consider what it takes to bring one of these vehicles up to current maintenance standards. After having fully reconditioned/refreshed one 928 and working on a total rebuild of another, I can personally state that the ROI is definitely skewed in the better direction of a car like this than one with less miles and not near the level of maintenance.
What it sells for, is what it sells for. For me $33k is a good price for this car, provided the AC issue is corrected. A much better value than a similar car with less miles and unknown/deferred maintenance.

You either guess you can change it back, or you know you can. That is based on your knowledge about the car. Even if the stock parts are gone, you should have the knowledge to locate replacements. Greg's car can easily be reversed to stock, if there was every a buyer that didn't want to drive the car.

If the problem is the wheels, well just ask: Hey how hard is it to convert to stock wheels? No need to judge the asking price negatively. His asking price is very reasonable, I mean really, look at the pics and the video and some of the comments from people that have actually seen the car in person. Don’t you think it’s beautiful and well cared for?
You can easily change to stock wheels, their cup 1s I believe for a 93 model. Most people out there would be more than happy to swap their cup 1s with a set of correct offset kinesis for a 928. Problem with cup 1s is that they are prone to cracking so not many find them desirable, if anything cup 2s are a better choice, they were used on the 94, 95 GTSs. The intake tubes are not original; you can still buy the originals from Porsche. However, they are literally made out of electric tape and fall apart only after a few thousand miles, that’s why you don’t see GTS that get driven with the original intake tubes, they are expensive to replace and low quality. The shark vent can also easily be changed back, but intake needs to be removed. The stock breather system has some flaws and is not adequate for venting out crank case gases, hence the use of such mod. It’s very easy to see that the owner took very good care of it. Not many people do a zinc plating job when they are doing an intake and valve cover refresh.
Bottom line is, don’t try to beat the price down with negative comments without having seen the car in person. It’s rude and unethical.

One small correction if you don't mind.. "The shark vent can also easily be changed back, but intake needs to be removed." .... Intake does NOT need to be removed to install or remove our SharkVent system....you can also replace the "drilled" oil filler snout with a stock one if desired..without removing the oil filler neck. :-)

I'm not sure I'd call alot of what Greg and others (including myself) have done as mods as much as I would call them upgrades? Lots has been learned since production stopped on the 928. DR's stuff, SLM, Carl, Greg Brown and others, suspension, ehaust and wheels/tires..... much of it better than stock in my opinion so I'd refer to them more accurately as "upgrades." I know my GTS handles/rides, sounds and looks better than it did when it was all stock. I did however keep ALL the stock parts b/c I too am a nut about having all the stock parts (inferior as they might be...) and any possible future collectability will require them.

BTW. the same exact discussions come up in every enthusiast car site I follow. Same thing with Mercedes, Lotus, BMW, Maserati, Ferrari ... every single one. I suppose that's what's keeping the prices down on those marquees as well?
Enthusiasts that spend time on internet forums are exposed to a lot of opportunities to buy examples of the object of their hobby. That means that most of us have come across good deals, and that's how many of us end up with our cars. Those are the prices that stick in our minds and become future reference points. Very few of us, wake up one day, decide to buy a 928 and go out and buy the nicest one available at the time regardless of the price. For many of us that already own a 928, we are willing to wait for a what we believe is a good deal. If we need to buy one now, then we would probably have to pay more. That's no different than a seller asking top dollar and willing to wait for the right buyer. That is the context for many of these price discussions, and that is also why many of these top dollar cars are too expensive by our reckoning. That doesn't mean we should not be allowed to discuss them.
I've seen some of the same people in this thread (not all) who are so offended about RL driving down the price of this car or offending their GTS sensibilities, rip the c#@P out of other, judged lesser, 928s listed for sale here and elsewhere. What effect does that have on the hobby?
Guess what guys, 928s are lousy financial investments. Which is a good thing because many of you wouldn't own a 928 today if they cost what you think that they are worth.
Personally, I don't give a c#$p what my 928s are worth. I enjoy working on them, modifying them, and driving them. I also enjoy watching the 928 market, and occasionally buying them. I am always in the market for another 928, which is why I join these price discussions. Maybe that's why I prefer multiple, lower cost examples rather than a single perfect condition one that others choose.
I also own other cars, some of which cost (notice I didn't say "are worth") more than the GTS being discussed here and some of those in similar previous threads, so I don't appreciate being judged just because I choose not to buy either a low mileage example or a top condition example where there is no work left to be done. I've never once ridiculed one of you for spending your money and paying top dollar for one of these examples (debating prices on advertised cars is not the same thing). I don't recall others doing so either.
