Default 32v cam wheels from DCAuto

Some time ago when Roger raised the issue of the old wheels becoming NLA, and replaced by a new number (-04?) at 3 times the price, a note popped up on that thread about DCAuto listing the old part nos at a very good price. Being in the market for a new pair of wheels for my Porken timing update (16V), I checked the link, it said NEW, I ordered a pair. Then people started up saying they were used, and some evn returned theirs. This put me in a bind, as I was routing mine through our office in Houston, with uncertain delivery to me in Oz...they finally arrived yesterday. Expecting used wheels, imagine my surprise when I find the teeth look absolutely unused - no signs of any work at all, certainly no shiny alloy- sort of dull matt finish. I will post a pic as soon as I can for others to comment, as I have never seen brand new wheels.

No longer such a deal. They show one used as of March for $200.

John,
Did you get 16 or 31 valve spocket cam wheels?

Here are a couple of pics. They are 32V wheels.
I think now they have been blasted in some fashion , and recoated...you can see signs of the spider having been there , and faint signs of the spider bolts, but very little signs of the front clamping washer. In The tooth view there are signs of marks under what looks like a coating to me....??DC wheel is left or top one, marked 24491

I wonder if a paint meter like a body shop uses to measure coating thickness would work on a cam gear?

Shiny bottom one looks like its toast.

I wonder if they are in fact coated anymore? Many places run parts through a little media blasting to make the appearance a little better; these might have been through that kind of refreshing process. Keep an eye on them and see if they are hard-plated and continue to hold up.

Looks like spray shadow on that top one and the teeth look a little flattened on the top, with some waisting in at the middle. It'd be interesting to get the measurements of the OD at the tooth centre and both edges, and compare them with new. I'll post some pics of new 16V gears a bit later for appearance comparison.
