yes Mark will know what you are talking about. Greg brown has the pan spacer. I would recomend running one of those as well as long as your budget permits it. If you run the spacer you will also need to install a mini starter as the stock starter will not clear the lowered oil pan. You will probably have to die grind the pan to get clearance for the top starter bolt as well. That's what I did.

I used the porsche gasket between the spacer and the block and a loctite flange sealent . between the pan and the spacer. Worked well and I have no leaks I forget the Loctite number but my mechanic called it turkish delight because of its colour and smell. I could get you the number but I am leaving for 2 weeks for the holidays. Back in early january.

Yup Loctite 574 (or 547??) comes to mind....I did the same thing.....loctite between spacer-gridle and the stock cork gasket between oil pan-spacer...... I had some leaks with the silicone gasket, probably due to over tightening and it "squirting" out....so of course my answer is to "tighten it more".....

the pan spacer is not needed. dont worry about it. all you are doing is having to put more oil in the sump, and have more oil to climb the walls in to the crank area under high g loading, cornering and accel. Plus, forget about having a half inch lower pan!! . I would never do it, never never never. I can point out 5 races and 3 street events where i would have lost the mtor or did damage if my pan was .5" lower. I have never had any pick up issues, nor has brian before he put the pan spacer on. there is a good chance you will create more problems than you will solve with it, thats almost a guanteee.

If you got it already, i would go with the OB pan and screen set up. brian has it working, and I dont know if the newer set ups would lke that extra oil mass sloshing around.

going to be ordering up some parts today to try to wrap the long block up.. question for you guys, when i install the lifters, how do you clean and prep them? I'm just wondering because when i get it all together to check valve clearance, won't a pumped up lifter make a difference?
