If you reconsider on the wheels, we have 2 parts 924's, and one had a complete set of 15" phone dials. I'm sure the shop would let them go cheap....

I thought as much and was well aware of the limited weight I used to run a 14 foot picklefork tunnel with a Merc 6 cylinder over a direct drive racing lower unit with a box exhaust big two blade prop. The boat maybe weighed 300 lbs Great project you have going there, makes no sense at all, which is why I really like it !

Thanks Jeremy...I'll keep that in mind.

I also think the phone dials are more in keeping with my intended 928 theme.
Hi Dave,

FWIW, I like the Phone Dials too...just seems right and screams "928".

BTW, concerning the subject about the possible CIS injection issues "on the water"....if you want to update to L-Jet instead i have eveything here you need..from intake runners, engine harness, computer etc,.. and would happily donate it to the project for shipping cost only. I may even have everything to do it Euro LH if you want to go that far... same offer..except the Euro LH injectors I have are basically new and will appreciate a "donation" for those..Ha, Ha. But, I kind of like keeping it "old school" wih CIS, as I suspect you do too.

OH, also on the "928 Theme" I have a complete instrument Cluster and Pod that fitted correctly on the existing dash and covered in marine Grade Vinyl would look killer, again same deal..just pay shipping. Just the 928 Pod itself mounted with the existing/different gauges would be kind of cool too.....

Just tossing out some ideas to drive you CRAZY(er) on this GREAT PROJECT....

Hey Dave,

RE; the Dash and intruments....My plan is to fit one of my glass dash/console units and then add 928 pod with the existing boat instruments. 928 instruments would also be pretty neat but I dont' know if I could make that work. I need to pull the steering wheel so I can start mocking that up.

RE; the injection...this is a Euro motor so it has the euro intake runners which I have already p-coated. Is there any way to adapt the later injectors? My thought is to run with what I have until an issue comes up.

RE: old school...the boat itself is from the same period as my engine and I want the overall package to look "correct". If I hit my speed goal, the project is over and I'll just enjoy the boat as-is. If the boat turns out to be a slug, then old school goes out the window and I'll be doing motor mods to get me up to max HP levels.

I appreciate the parts offers...stayed tuned. I can't imagine I'll get through this without needing a bunch of stuff..

Default The Dash

I'll pull this into the build thread for those who have not seen it before.

This is a one-piece dash that is light wieght fiberglass. I made it primarily for this project but it also fits in a car like a stock dash.

Tass this is very very cool and a very nice choice in the boat.
Dose the engine turn the correct way?

I think the turbo twist are a sweet choice.
If you plomb 2 lines into the oil pan you could have a resivour and remember that a line with a tap/tee makes it easer to drain and change the oil.

Good luck with your super cool project.
I wish I lived close enough to come and watch you work on it.

Brad

The Euro LH Intake is Mirror Polished (the one from my ex 85 Euro)...but I could rough it up and get Jeannie to P-Coat them any color you want. :-)

Yeah, I already have a feel for your "style"(BTW, that is a compliment) and knew you were probably thinking of the same period, hence my later old school comment about keeping the CIS.

Hmmm, after seeing that LW Dash ( I had forgotten about that)...we could do some trading for one of those...it would be PERFECT for a personal project (also a LW) I am planning...hint, HINT :-)

Wow..Ok, you qualify

An adapter that takes me from the trailer 5-bolt 4 1/2" bolt circle to the porsche pattern would be the easiest way out. It needs to be 2" thick to solve my offset issue and cover the greasable bearing caps I have.

Is there anything like that out there??

Terry,

It looks like I have the wheel mounting sorted. I found a site that had the correct vehicle pattern and the correct p-car rim pattern AND the 2' thickness ! At 57 bucks each, it was not worth modifying spacers or making anything from scratch.

Disc brakes would be a lot nicer than my exisitng drums and I have them "in stock", but I'm afraid that would get me off on a tangent and turn the trailer into a huge project. I'm going to hang onto that idea though....if I'm looking for improvements to make further down the road, that would be a good one.

thanks

I had a free Sunday morning to throw at the boat project so I decided to break the trailer down to individual parts, ready for sandblasting. I got some help from Alice, my vintage Allis Chalmers Yard forklift.

Pic one, Alice holding things while I chop, grind, burn and disassemble stuff.

Pic two, Alice loading the stripped boat trailer frame onto a spare (long story) boat trailer for the trip to the blasters.

Dave,

The old Kineo Porsche Boat is back on Ebay.....you only have 19 hours left to pony up the $299,000.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSC...item2312312bfa

Found some pics I haven't seen before. The Seats alone might give you some ideas.

And for laughs...maybe a Wing as seen on this 928 Powered boat :-)

Hey, at least it's got 2 S4 engines in it!

I really like that boat and it looks like they put some effort into cleaning it up. But....a boat that big, with a pretty luxurious cockpit and cabin, a jet drive and only S4 horse power? My guess would be 50mph at most. That would be
embarrassing for a boat with a Porsche pedigree.

I have never seen that twin engine boat...wonder what they used for drives?

Thanks for the pics Dave
