Default MK third at Laguna Seca!!!!

Talked to MK today about his race yesterday at Laguna Seca......car ran well all day as usual...running in the American Super V8 series...... He qualified okay at 1:38......good enough for 4th..then upped his pace to 1:37's in the race......and finished in 3rd..... 1st and 2nd place were seriously built American Iron V8's.....The winner (sutak) was running 1:33's, but has well over 500whp too....

MK noticed an odd scenario in the corners.....his new dipstick that also doubles as his oil temp gauge just barely sits at top oil level with a full "tank" of oil.....his typical race oil temp is 260-270F (just like mine)......but he noticed in hard right corners the temp would quickly spike to pegged at 300F+....clearly his oil is sloshing around, but at the very top level......interesting point.....pressure always stayed fine...

MK also is close to finished on Petty's 5.0L euro!!! He hopes to install it in the next few weeks!!! He also is working on a "big brake" upgrade for those of us with "S" brakes.....it would allow us to run 330mm rotors from Cayennes!!! Sean has been helping with the machining of the adapters....

Huh. So maybe In a hard right whatever thermocouple that's on the dipstick is getting uncovered and is transiently exposed to hot blowby gases (?) How does a dipstick temp sender work?

The last time I ran the widow was Thunderhill backwards a while back with Trackmasters....Sutak was there for the NASA lilredhut weekend....lost it over 9 and CRUNCHED the whole front drivers corner......a few hours later he completely rebuilt it........then I heard he blew his engine the next day He was complaining that his dry sump full race engines starve out and don't last......which is quite odd.....

This is what MK thinks.........since it is barely dipping into the oil......I do not know the brand or exactly how it works....... Whats odd is I get larger pressure drops in right turns than I do in left? Especially T3 at Thunderhill which is off camber, so it makes sense that the oil would slosh more there..... When I mean drops...it will drop from 75+ to maybe 55psi briefly, then recover...but I'm around 3500rpm through there anyway....

That's a very impressive result for Mark. Not sure he can read this, but congratulations to him!

I didn't do quite as well at our fun drive yesterday. I finished 8th -- out of 8 cars. And it wasn't even a race! I'm just not in Mark's league...
