I'm selling my '88 5-speed. The car is a rare and unique Lagoon Green, with a Linen interior. Car has always been registered in San Diego. I'm the third owner, and have owned the car since 2001. I have virtually all service records since the car was delivered to the original owner in November 1988. Option codes include C03, 158, 220 (locking differential), 418, 481 (5-speed manual), 494, 570 (high-output air conditioning), 586, and 650 (sunroof).

The car has several nice features, including stainless RMB, a 930 S Turbo steering wheel, Devek aluminum belly pan, genuine 993 wheels, new Bridgestone RE760s all around, Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors in the rear, and Blaupunkt Toronto audio unit. The shifter has been slightly shortened.

The car drives beautifully. The transmission shifts smoothly and the engine responds like it should. The paint has a nice shine, and the clear-coat is in very good condition. The includes a complete original tool set and air compressor.

In addition, I have the original steering wheel, workshop manuals on CD, touch-up paint, 928 parts catalog (PET) and extra keys. The car was featured in the 928 International Oktoberfest line-up several years ago.

The car has 149,500 miles. I am asking $9,800.00. I would love to sell it to a Rennlister. Please post if you are interested.

I believe I've priced the car fairly, given the car's condition. The car is very nice, but there are several items that need attention, or need to be disclosed, here they are:

1. Driver's side seat bolster has worn through. Leather and vinyl in other areas needs renovation.
2. Odometer is a replacement unit. Original quit at 65,577 miles in 1997. The new replacement odometer was replaced by Hoehn Porsche and currently reads approximately 83,508 miles (I still drive it just about every day). I have the paperwork for the odo replacement, certified by Hoehn.
3. Blaupunkt Toronto display has crapped out. It still works fine, but the display is scrambled.
4. Valve cover gaskets are leaking a bit.
5. Oil filler neck gasket appears to be leaking.
6. Timing belt was last done in October 2005, 33,500 miles ago.
7. Rear hatch release is inoperable.
8. Heater bypass valve probably needs to be replaced. I'm getting some warm air through the vents sometimes -- not all the time.

Thanks for checking it out. It's been a great car for me the last ten years. My kids can't fit in the back seats anymore, so it's time to move on to something a bit more practical for my family.

OK, now the price makes sense.

Don't feel bad about the display on the Toronto. I had the same problem with mine, and heard it's a fairly common issue. The display is NLA in the US; they asked me to send it to Germany for inspection, and getting it back would have been about $50 - they could not tell me beforehand, if the display is available.

The bolster might be repairable for little money by someone from this company: http://www.fibrenew.com/ - In fact, the car might be easier to sell, if you have this done before the sale.

The heater valve is cheap and takes about 15 minutes to replace. If that's the cause of the warm air, it's better to fix it; otherwise you potential buyers might assume the need for and expensive AC repair and negotiate the price accordingly.

Those are minor issues with the exception of the TB and even that is expected on MOST 928 buys/sales. I mean, look at it... that price is LOW!!!! Whomever buys this car is LUCKY!!!!

But remember: WE know that a heater valve is minor. Someone else might say: Oh, it may need a $1k AC repair, and try to negotiate that into the price, when in reality this costs less than $30 to fix.
