Does anyone have information regarding the BSFC number for the 5 liter 928 engine, circa 1987 ?

If you want a exact number, then you need to pull your engine and see the folks that have the engine dyno that Greg Brown uses, otherwise some where between .38 and .50 will get you in the ball park.

What I would like to know is the BMEP on a single motor making 400 HP with boost, and one that made that with N2O, and I mean pressure spikes and all.

I think if we had accurate numbers on both, it would go at least go a foot or two on ending that question.

He asked a serious question and I don't remember you being in any position to decide who plays in what sandbox.

Anyone have a real answer for our friend here?

I'd expect you jumping into a -ton- more forums if levity was suddenly against the rules.

You have never meet Hacker I guess, trust me on this, he can go from mild to wild in a heartbeat, I actually am shocked you did not get banned for that comment.

Just think about it, Gretch was his role model, and Randy beat them both, daily, so he has little time for you........

Geeeeezzz! Sorry for blowing up!

I'm trying to make some determinations about this goofy supercharger project of mine, and a good BSFC number would help a lot toward the calculations I'm trying to do.

I thought that Porsche had published BSFC numbers for some of their engines but I am having no success in unearthing one for the 928 engine.

Thanks, though........

not busting your chops but...
Ive done all these types of calcualtions...read a few hot rod tuning books in the library etc etc..blower rpm...delta T etc etc.. In short, just bolt it up and don't worry about the math and physics of it. You will get more results from a proper tune than trying to figure out what you WILL get ahead of time on paper. most critcal thing in a math sense will be the blower rpm and pulley speed...you dont want to over speed the blower. You will kill bearings and efficiency.

8-10 psi intercooled boost will get you 430 and up at the wheels.

I thought my answer was real.
On a supercharged engine, you will not be far off by using .45 for the BSFC.
