So roger stocks the parts to replace what Porsche does not send, good to know, and I should have guessed that.

Here's a very good write up on the conversion:

Both motors are the same. Only the connectors are different.

Sunset no longer has them for $335, or $375 for that matter. Just like everything, prices go up with time!

Now more like $500, for the complete kit minus glass (but the glass still comes with the kits some of the time).
So buy the "kit", inspect for glass, then buy the glass ($125 set) if needed.

Welcome Michael.
A very good write up indeed.
Had the chance to meet Andy once. A very nice guy too.

Yes its a very nice write up - however its only valid for 1987 and later flag mirrors. If your stock flags are '86 or earlier you will have a much more complex time to get them to work electrically - there is no direct wiring translation - you need extra relays per side also. Physically both types of flags housings are similar - however the internal electrics and glass mounts are quite different...

I am about to swap to GTS Aeros, I looked at everything I could. I went with the Motorsports/Dave Lomas, Garrity kit. I spent $817.00 for the complete powered kit. This included the wiring conversion so it should be plug and play. It also included (most importantly) was the color match paint. I sent them my color code and they match as close as can be expected to 25 year old factory paint. I can't wait to install, and it seems that all the bits are there.?.

Early motors & glass mounts don't fit in an Aero mirror (not close) - nor would they attach to Aero glass.

If you have a '78-'86 Aeros will fit mechanically fine... but electrically you need either:

1) An active harness adapter (with relays) per side
2) Swap all the car side stuff to S4+ switchgear & wiring
3) Live with manual or only partial electrical operation

If you have a S4 - Aero electrical installation is just a wire color mapping exercise...
- or the late S4 flag motors wil fit in the Aeros (the motors are the same so just swap out)

Lots of confusing noise out there - this is the truth...

It is a tight fit with the larger connectors, but doable.
Just for clarification, I was responding to the OP who has an S4. As mentioned, the pre-S4 style motors are not compatible with the Aero mirrors as related to my earlier post.
