ISV had notches in it indicating a burned armature,
Note the brushes wear grooves into them and then it will stick in a certain position,
The TPS had a lot of oil in it so I replaced it.

Pictures.
front bumper with new shocks .
Silicone oil pan gasket .
Timing belt run checked, tensioner bushings and pivot bolt replaced as the belt was running a close to flush on the right cam pulley now its back to about 2 MMs from the front edge.

New Volvo MMs installed.
NOTE pan is flush with the cross member,

Washer tank cleaned out, Y connector fitted .

New hood pad being replaced I used Aerokroil it works but the PB blaster works better to remove the adhesive, scrape off the old foam spray down with solvent wait for 30 mins scrape off adhesive then degrease the hood, in this case i removed the hood to make AC work easier but it can be done on the car

Hey, that carpet set is truely beautiful. How do we get in touch with him? Also, I don't suppose you would consider documenting doing the AC seals? I could never figure out how to do the rexpansion valve on the 79. It is sold now and I also have an 86.5 and will be going through the engine. At the same time, I want to do all the ac stuff that you are doing now. Man, I would truly love to have some pics of which things need replacing. I will have the engine out for several days and I want it to look good for the next few years after it goes back together...

Thanks again for keeping us posted,
Frank

For some reason the cosmoline on this car is like epoxy i have cleaned many undersides of 928s and this car has the hardest cosmo to remove ,
it seems like it got a double dose of cosmo it is everywhere.

Frank the Ac system is basically undo the hose connections clean the ends then replace the old O rings with new green ones,
also flush out the components and lines separate so the flush liquid doesnt ruin the new O rings.
This car is going back with freon and mineral oil for the compressor, new expansion valve and drier, new O rings on the compressor manifold,
and possibly compressor lines though they look like they are in good condition.
I got my AC O ring kit from Carquest its about 11.00 hass all the O rings you could need part # MT 2520

As I am about to tackle the intake refresh portion of this 85/86 refresh, this is a nice complimentary thread to this already fantastic thread. Mrmerlin is in it too: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...pressions.html

More work completed,
Pulled out a remarkable amount of wires from the remains of the K 40 radar and the Alpine car alarm and the old stereo, the console is a bit buggered up but it can be fixed needs a clock and ashtray and the console insert where they fit,
I got the engine back together and running time to swap out the Chips,
pulled out the old carpet and started installation, doors are last
got another set of Cup wheels to replace the BBS blues..
Got a new battery from Carquest a free swap out,
as the other battery wouldnt hold a charge
