Does the alternator duct connect to anything in the wheelwell??
Sorry this could be a dumb noob question, but oh well...
I was replacing a parking light on the driver's side and saw the cooling hose just hanging there in the wheelwell. Is its supposed to attach to anything or does it just hang there?? I know the bracket bolts to the wall, but what about the hose itself?
Thanks for helping me learn!

Just that W bracket to the splash shield.
Everything looks normal.

Small sheet metal screws go through the spalshshield into the screw holes on the bracket. Attaching it is a PITA unless you pull the other end off the alternator shroud and move some slack into the wheel well temporarily. The external temp sensor for climate control with the gray wire eminating from it is shown in your picture. You might check the conditon of the plug is there are any issues with temp regulation of your climate control. That plug connection often is corroded inside.

While you're in there, you might want to check the condition of the hose where it connects to the alternator. It's often found to be in horrible shape.
Easy to replace with readily available 2½" i.d. defroster hose.
See the thread "Alternator Cooling Hose - $24.75 for 6 feet". (And note that you can get this hose either from Roger or get something similar, possibly not as good quality, from your local auto parts store).
I added a screen on mine, as it's just another place that I want to avoid becoming a rodent home.
Another useful thread is "Alternator cooling hose replacement".

Actually, I think it's aluminum; just some leftover stuff from a window screening project. Whatever you happen to have handy would work, I'd think.
