The 911 still carries its motor out back tranny in front. It still can finish a race with all its coolant gone so it still has MUCH aircooling left. I was hope we would all could just get along. But I guess not. To much negative energy here inferiority? I dont know.

Hurty feelers alert!

Jayzus man, you start a thread indicating that the 928 has a major design flaw and then proceed to use a 911 to justify your remarks?

Do you also go to social event, drop a turd in the punchbowl and then defend your action?

You is in a lose-lose situation here, sir. Suck it up.

Until that, I thought you were in it for some fun. C'mon guys, he's raising an issue about the key? But now I'm with Randy, you are trolling, and now you are complaining someone took the bait.

As long as I'm here: the 928 wasn't meant as a 0-60 thing or even on twists, the Weissach just happens to do well and the evolution of ownership has made its way down to some racers who modded it from the original doctor/lawyer guys. If you want to poke a stick in OG's eye, I would challenge him to race his 911 against a Cayman and see how that fat, slow volkswagen does against a mid-engine car.

I guess that just about says it all.

You are going to enjoy your 928 with whatever crowd you choose, or no crowd at all. If you think the 911 crowd is going to be very supportive of you and your 928, you have another lesson to learn. The other crowds you mention don't have a clue about the 928, so you can forget them.

I can't a imagine what you were fishing for with the start of this thread, but it seems to me that you got just about what a mature auto person might have expected.

I am old too, probably much older than you, and I have learned that this 928 forum and its participants is/are the best resource anyone with a 928 might come across for just about anything relating to the 928.

My suggestion is that you do just what you suggested, and that is go enjoy your 928 with some other group; but you will enjoy it in any case.

cupholder.....lol

BMW's also never had them until fairly recently... i had a friend that was german and we were talking about it and he said that the german designers did not design cupholders because they could not believe that you would drink while driving... driving is such an experience that you should not be doing anything else.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this thread. I think I prefer hearing about that quarter wit [or her daughter] from Birmingham [UK] who Ozzy Osbourne is manacled to! He must have been on something stronger than usual when he signed up for that one!

I rather suspect OG is a 911 owner having a playful "wind up" at the list's expense so take it with a pinch of salt. I find it difficult to believe someone who has the business acumen to acquire a shed load of goodlies like that could be so thin skinned unless his family name is Corlione [better check the bedsheets tonight before hitting the sack].

Sounds as though he may enjoy "peeing through the letter box and asking how far it went down the hallway carpet". Maybe OG has a 928 but one has to ask when did you last hear of someone with his list of harware buying a 928? Has happened before I dare say but not too often I suspect.

Maybe I should add this to the 928 forum - need to pick an option before you are allowed to post:

If you are obsessive-compulsive, please press 1 repeatedly.
If you are co-dependent, please ask someone to press 2.
If you have multiple personalities, please press 3, 4, 5, and 6.
If you are paranoid-delusional, we know who you are and what you want. Just stay on the line so we can trace the call.
If you are schizophrenic, listen carefully and a little voice will tell you which number to press.
If you are depressed, it doesn't matter which number you press. No one will answer.
If you are delusional and occasionally hallucinate, please be aware that the thing you are holding on the side of your head is alive and about to bite off your ear.

I was damn pleased to read that post title. Major flaw - singular. Thank goodness and there was me thinking there were a whole lot of flaws with our 928s. Thrust bearing failure, timing belt failure, ignition monitoring system failure, torque tube bearing failure, PSD failure, relay failure, more relay failure, a/c failure, in-tank pump failure, MAF failure, oil packing the cam cover failure, 2/6 rod bearing failure, and more. But now I find there was only one design flaw - the key on the wrong side - and I can now sleep easily. Phew, what a relief. :-).

OldGuy was sad to find out that not all 928 owners are old, contrary to the popular belief on the 924/944/951 forums

Wow! Is there a "classic overreactions" or "new owners of 928s that own other models and subconciously don't like themselves for liking 928s" thread?

But that's not nice so let me take the bullet

My V6 Cayenne is a poser; my 1976 912e was a poser. One has the key in the Lemans racing position and each owed their life to being the lovechild of joint development project with Volkswagen. We all know this isn't true of the cars we talk about in this forum. Pure porsche engineering and some BRILLIANT folks here, have kept these cars roadworthy and victim of comparisons with much newer cars.

At least we don't have to dial "9"-"2"-"8" in case of emergency

Enjoy the ride OldGuy... there's a ton of good advice here and maturity to take serious topics seriously, like Motor Oil
