Default MAJOR DESIGN FLAW in the 928

Hey guys have you noticed this? EVERY time I get in the car the IGNITION is on the WRONG SIDE!!!!
I keep thinking that the more I drive it that it will fix itself. But its still on the wrong side after two weeks!
We KNOW that the ignition is correct on the 911, because that was designed from the requirements of LeMans. And the 911 is and was born to race.
So MY 928 has this problem and its not working.
ANYONE else have this issue?
Everytime the same thing. I get in, try to put the ket in the left side and the ignition is GONE!! Its slid over to the right side!!
Oh well I will give it another couple weeks and report back.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to change that??? With the steering interlock it might be hard, but if you left that part off I wonder if it could be done???

That must be why my odometer reset switch is toast. Years of trying to jam the key in there!

Well, if you would try a key instead of a ket, you might not have the same problem

LOL I though maybe you were confused about the dogleg shifter.
My response would've been to go find an older 911.

If you need one on the left have a 63 fairlane we can talk about .Like putting gas in all these cars have to think [which side] before going in to a gas station.

It's on the correct side for me with RHD .... gearstick as well ... but the wipers and the indicator stalks are reversed compared to normal RHD. I go from my DD to a 928 and turn the wipers on when I want to indicate, and indicate when its raining and I want the wipers on.
Thank goodness there isn't a difference in pedal layout from LHD to RHD.

That too .. on the right on my 928's and on the left on my DD. When I change cars I have to try and get my head around all the differences before i drive off.

I guess you have not discovered the emergency brake yet.

Hardly.

Sounds like classic 'old dog new trick' syndrome.

If you think that is a "major flaw", just wait until you go looking for the engine! Maybe that placement required the key to be tuned around as well.

In 17 years of ownership the only "real" design flaw I've noted is the rear sway bar drop links.

Simply not up to the job. I've broken three of them.
