So the latest announcement is tickets go on sale Sunday ... 3-day pass with a grandstand seat, including shuttle bus transportation, will start at $259. Same deal, but general admission, no reserved seat (e.g. watch from the viewing mounds), will be $169. Are those reasonable prices for an F1 weekend?

FYI - You can buy them as of yesterday if you "sign up" at the Circuits of America website.

A steal of a deal compared to flying to Europe or Asia getting hotel rooms and then paying MORE for tickets ! Go while you can it may never happen again. And get seats well worth being able to see something and having a place to sit.

My Austrian F1 three day pass and my Indy 4 day passes with really good seats were all less and frankly most are not making more money today than they were 5 years ago...

The best seats will cost you $500+ for the 3 day pass... Can't even imagine having bought a PSL!

That is not as bad as predicted. My thinking is to rent a very large tent, lay on drinks and food and watch the whole race live on a VERY large TV screen and see ALL the action in home territory.

Roger is quite right and I would be better off moving up there for the weekend and renting my house out here... I even have the airport right across the street so the rich folks renting my place could just walk across the street and catch a helicopter and BOOM they are there in 10 min!

My buddies and I wound up buying turn four, 11th row. We'll try those this year and then scheme and maneuver for better seats in '13 once we know the layout of the place.

Chris,
Are the hotel rates quoted (quite expensive) per night or for three nights?

Hi Louie

Some you have to book all 4 nights, others you can book what you need, I only needed 3 nights. It is spendy no matter what but similar to Indy back in 2002.

Chris,

You think it is about the same as the early Indy races??? Seems quite a bit more to me but I get to stay at home for this one...

They don't have the handicap seating figured out yet, so they just told me to buy tickets and they would take proper care of me when it is all figured... I am currently in turn 4, but will be with the Porsche Club of America group in Turn 12 for the race. There is also a PCA parking corral but I am not sure what it takes to get parked there or if I can secure a place for some of you out of town 928 guys that might be driving in...

just happened across this subject while surfing around today. The track and facilities are shaping up nicely, looks like a 1st class job being done. I would say though that this guy Tilke has helped destroy what F1 used to be about. Too many turns on much slower tracks nowadays. I never missed a minute years ago but haven't watched a minute in years.

The track - seems most commentators are F1 newbies and bring up comparisons to a lot of other places, but the front pit straight and hill is closest to one of my favorite tracks of the 80's - the Oesterreichring;

The Oesterreichring see the front straight hill and notice they never go below 4th gear in the race, fast sweeping turns, FYI 928's were the pace cars and medical cars here!;
