S4 cat delete question
Quick question really, my S4 has had the cats removed and replaced by straight pipes. The air pump pipes have been removed and sealed. otherwise it is the original exhaust system with small resonators further back before the rear box.
The o2 sensor is still connected to the little part of the exhaust which joins the left and right pipes. so is my system an X/H pipe equivelent or would it makes sense to replace this section with the o2 sensor in with a purchased x pipe and refit the o2 sensor in one pipe or something.

i just had the same issue...
The PO of my car did the "test pipe" cat delete...
I installed an X pipe last night.. I will report on performance (seat of pants measured) as soon as i get the rest of parts for the wp/tb job in..

Three Wheelin'
excuse my ignorance, does the x pipe delete the cats and resonator or just the cats? What the difference of gutting the cats? My car has over 200k miles, so i am assuming the cats are clogged and might need replaced with a better high flow unit. I noticed ebay had a few Magflow and flowmaster forsale. Which is better for the car. I don't want my kids to get sick with the fumes. I would also assume the technology of cats have improved since the late 80's
Does anybody know the going price for a X pipe. Besides motor sports, possibly rogers kit?

Here is a picture of the X pipe in place - replaces the original cat system.
Can be fitted with high flow cats or just left with straight pipes.

From the pictures in Roger's post, will sampling 02 from one bank cause problems? because at the moment with the orginal system, but with the cats removed it samples from both banks as I assum the pipes are joined where the O2 sensor is?

I have a car that was manufactured without cats and associated ancillary equipment.
To check out the set up I would suggest that you check the wiring diagrams for your modle car and it will show what has not been fitted with car without cats, O2 sensors etc.
