Default another gts block question

do GT cylinder heads fit on and work ok on a GTS block?
are there any other differences in the GTS block/pistons/crank which would stop it being a direct replacement to drop into a GT?.
GTS and GT are both ROW versions.
thanks in advance

Phil,

You could use a GTS crank, rods and pistons in a 5L block and it would work. You could also use an S4 or GT crank, rods and pistons in a GTS block and it would work. But you cant mix a 5.4L crank with 5.0L rods or pistons.

As long as pistons are correct diameter. Tolerance group has to be same.

It is possible to use S4/GT or any older 928 rods in GTS. All critical dimensions are same. Only difference is weight but thats not a problem if enough mallory is added to GTS crank. Its not cheap but its possible.

Early GTS used ...4R casting number heads which were also used in late S4 and GT. So no problems at all mixing them.

GTS and GT are both ROW versions. All GTS blocks are the same. All GT blocks are the same. No changes in the blocks to send the engines different parts of the world.thanks in advance

There is an additional cooling passage/hole near the exhaust ports in GTS heads and matches up to those on the block but S-4 /GT do just fine without it.

thanks gents,i will be stripping the engine over the comming weeks to see if indeed the bore of the block is damaged-spark plug was out when the fire started-,so has been stood for a few months with water/debris sitting in the bore.
still the car itself is looking slightly better than the burnt mess it was.

happy 928 motoring to all

Phil
