Only a small percentage of the cars advertised for sale are typically mentioned here. Usually, cars are posted because there is something that stands out about the ad (price, model, condition, rarity...) or because a member is considering buying and is looking for feedback or help with a PPI.

For my 2 cents I would propose that the moderators instead set a standard for these sor of sales related posts.

Maybe I should have posed this concept another way.

Posting pictures from for sale ads (or your own car for that matter)and then ask the members to assign a price to them?!

Might be better to start a new thread that way. Thoughts?

Those kinds of threads don't last too long before the bickering starts...

On one of my other lists (advrider) they have a section called "craigslist find of the day". It's there to list the unique things listers find on craigslist (bike related on that one of course)... In our case it could be the craigslist 928 find of the day...there is discussion on the "finds"..but it serves as a place where unique finds can be posted..for the 928 listers to use as they wish... Some neat things are found there daily... and same could be for 928's if they were allowed to be posted. Discussions on the finds usually run their course fairly quickly as the next "find" is posted and discussion moves along. No need to make it sticky ..as traffic usually keeps it on the front page..

I'm also on Advrider and have poked my head into that thread a few times. Dangerous stuff in there!! I would need a MUCH BIGGER garage if I read that thread too often.

Frankly there really is not a market value or book value for 928s because so few were made and fewer still exist limited sales records. Each car is now unique with 16-33 years of experiences, use and abuse. No two S-4s are the same. Add in limited demand, the perception that they are expensive to fix, limited knowlegeable buyers and sellers and guess what they range in value from ZERO-$60,000. As noted you really can not tell much good about a car from the adds/photos. It is a very imperfect market with sales both high and low. All comes down to how badly the buyer happens to WANT a 928 no one needs one they just want one! Same for the seller how much does he want to be done with his 928. Best comparison might be boats......

928's are like 40 year old women. They all have baggage and it's just a matter of which one has baggage you're willing to put up with. As a group we would never be able to reach a consensus on which one we're willing to bring home. Personally I'm a sucker for those sexy hips on the GTS. I don't care how crazy she is.

Oh snap, now I've said too much.

There's surprisingly little bickering unless its a low miles car, and someone mentions the phrase "Garage Queen"

I have had 4 928s. I have been in love with all four. I do not care what it costs, just one turn of that key, and I will find a way. What about our love affairs with these cars? Some drive for transportation purposes, others refine the art of owning a world-class gift to the sports car world. Some bow down to the 928. I am one of those. We have the honor of owning the fastest production car in the world when it was made, an exotic and beautiful, ageless design of a rocket ship that has a seat option that heats your *** while traveling 165 MPH!

Yes to all of the above... When I saw my S3 (and I'm still giddy) I fell over... I tried to talk 'em down from $10,900 but the mountain of maintenance records and $4,000 wheels sealed the deal Frankly, I probably would have bought it anyway, but now I dont have to CHANGE anything - its already gorgeous - guess I'm hooked Bottomline: If its worth it to you then buy it. Me personally, I dont like fixer-uppers so I look for the best "maintained" car I can find. TLC and elbow grease are cheap compared to parts & labor
