Default Please help me ID Fuel Line and Vacuum Thingy

MY 1980. One end of the fuel line goes to the front of motor DS fuel damper/regulator (which one is it?). The other end was cut by PO. Also, where does the fuel line connect?

Second, one end of the pictured vacuum device is broken. What is it and what does the other end connect to (one end goes into the firewall)

Thank you in advance for your help.

One of the fuel lines comes from the fuel pump and goes to the fuel regulator. The other is the return line to the fuel tank. It should be pretty easy to figure out which one goes where.

In pic #2 that is the hot water control valve that control the hot water that goes to the heater core. There should be a piece of hose that is 3/4" on one end and 1/2" on the other that connects that valve to the block. The other end goes into the firewall to the heater core.

when you get a new heater control valve also order the short hose.

the other end of the fuel lines are by where the EX manifold attaches to the header pipes on the right fenderwell

One other question. The fuel line definitely goes to the fuel regulator. Is this a replaceable part or do I need to have proper crimped one made? If it is replaceable, does anyone have a part number? Thanks again.

It is a replaceable part, but most people replace the flexible portion only. Be careful trimming the old hose off the barb such that it leaks.
Make sure you use EFI rated hose, also.
Roger at 928sRus sells a kit to replace ALL the flexible fuel lines for your car. The kit also comes with rolled edge clamps that won't bite into your new hose.

Thanks John. I already have Roger's fuel hose replacement kit, but this line is not a part of that kit. I am in the process of replacing all of the rubber fuel and vacuum lines. According to 928Int., the rubber line (with fittings) is NLA from Porsche and they suggested I take the remaining bits to a place like "The Hoseman" or the like to have a proper replacement made.

917, I will have to check the kit. I just started replacing the both the vacuum and fuel lines on Saturday. Next time I am up in the at our weekend place, I will check the kit before I spend money on a fuel line. Also, I am not sure if the fitting from the fuel pump line is there either. I will check and report back. Thanks for the heads up.

Is this the 3/8 inch line from your PM (white lettering) to which you are referring? If so, how long is it? Also, is that fitting removable/re-insertable at home or does a pro automotive hose shop have to do it?

I won't be able to tell if I have both ends until I get back up to our weekend place. Once I know for sure, I can give Roger a call. Thanks Rich.

Black,
You can remove the remainder of the hose at that fitting in situ, measure the length you need to cut from from the kit and replace it, using tow of the larger hose clamps provided in the kit. Measure twice, cut once. Also, be careful when removing the last of the flexible hose from the barb, taking care not to nick the barb which could create a leak.

Just so I understand: Is there a barbed fitting inside of the collar where the rubber hose ends and the collar is not crimped at all? Sorry for the ignorance and redundant questioning. Thanks.

Yes it is a barbed end, go to Rogers website he has the instructions in a PDF file to down load( it is written for the later models but you can get the answers you need from it). The 2 lines that you have in the pic should be the 5/16th ID lines. As far as length the Return side measured about 9.5 inches in length and the Pressure side measured just over 11 inches.
