Default Cross Breeding 90 Zyclamrot S4 with 91 Turquoise Metallic S4

As some of the longtimers know I am resto-modding my 91 Turquoise Metallic S4. Is has been / is a long process involving all aspects of the car.... Drive train, exterior, interior (Paul Champagne), suspension, exhaust, as well as specific upgrades like updating the console with a carputer. Oh, and to include a full rebuild of the of the engine (Greg Brown stroker). This is a long and complex project and it is near the tipping point as to gaining speed for the final assembly. Here is the thread for those who are not familiar with this project.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-part-2-a.html

In the interim, I was most fortunate to acquire Marc White's 90 Zyclamrot Metallic S4. I had Greg Brown go completely through the car. All aspects were inspected repaired, replaced, upgraded, etc. This included the R&R of the engine and transaxle. All new rod and cradle bearings were replaced as well as new windage tray, pan spacer and oil pickup system to protect the engine. Literally everything on the car was touched.

Soooooo, last week I had an epiphany of sorts about the cars. I started imagining the Turquoise Metallic car in all it's finished grandeur, fresh flawless paint, Paul's interior, Greg's drive train and suspension upgrades and Han's audio and carputer upgrades. In thinking about this end point - all that glorious power and potential in that "perfect" car and began seriously pondering how I would drive the thing. To be honest, I think the car will be too perfect to drive it in the spirited manner it could be. That is when it occurred to me I should but the near completed engine in the Zyclamrot car and put the Zyc's recently refreshed engine into the Turquoise car.

Though beautiful in many incredible ways, the Zyc car is a driver, while the Turquoise car will more of a beauty queen. I drive the Zyc car and maintain it to a high degree. It's paint and interior have just enough patina to them that I don't don't baby the car. I feel like I will enjoy/use the stroker more appropriately it it were in the Zyclamrot car.

By swapping the engines I will have, I believe, th ebest of both worlds. Each car will have an appropriate engine and I know I will enjoy both of them more. The best part is, I can swap them back should things change, so none of this is irreversible.

Dan,
You are just itchin' to drive that Turquoise car, aren't you? This does sound like a good plan for both cars.
My better half says hello, and we can't wait to see you again, soon.

More like cross pollination. From one flower to another. Go for it. T

I'm just wondering how he's going to get both cars here to the next Third Coast event?

More importantly, does he have two sets of horns?

Its just that zyclam is so nice too.....and once you drive the stroker...zyclam will feel SLOW all the time....

Thanks for the encouragement and endorsement of my idea to swap engines.

John, You bet I'm itching to drive the Turquoise car. It's been almost two years since we started the project. The Zyclamrot car interrupted the project but I sense all will come together soon.

Sean, I'd like to get both cars to next year's Third Coast event. Perhaps we can exert enough peer pressure on Greg and Mary to help me ferry the two cars over. That would be a fun caravan. Maybe we could get a few more of the AZ Gang to participate.

Greg, If you would commit to going I'm sure I could scare up another set of horns.

LOL. Next he'll be asking Greg if he can stroke an E36 M3.

Other than being completely nuts, it seems like a good plan. Greg must be glad.

OMG, that would be SOOO FUNNY!!! I had two of my cars there which was hard enough to do and I only had to travel like 45 miles! LOL! My biggest problem is the 3rd Coast weekend is also Homecoming for my alma mater. Thankfully it is just in Georgetown, but still makes it tough to see all the folks I want to see! Seeing two horned 928's though would be high on my to do list for sure!
