Default Intake Manifold Gasket Needed

Greetings everyone! Im looking for an Intake Manifold Gasket for a 1986 928. Im having a hard time finding one. 928 Specialist, 928 International, and 928 Motorsports does not have any in stock.

Ive heard the 1985 gasket will work with modification.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Many Thanks!!

Paper or metal, also wasn't aware there is a diff from '86 to '85, what mods are needed ?

edit: you are speaking of the Intake to Head gaskets, correct?

1986 is metal in 4 pieces, the 1985 is paper in two (85 & 86 is the same engine). 1985 is readly available and pretty cheap. But Im having a hard time finding the 86.

The gaskets are for the intake manifold.

The four metal gaskets for the '86 are also very pricey - regardless where you get them (928 International were advertising for $66 per gasket, Porsche dealer was approx $100 each - if I recall)

Hence, the paper gasket from the '85 may be a good option to consider.

It seems that the '86 was the only year where the metal four-piece gaskets were used. Perhaps someone much more knowledgeable can chime in why

Cheers

As Glenn says use the paper gaskets.

Well not exactly true, my 1985 was fitted with the 4 METAL gaskets (the Intake was never off before), so when I did the refresh I replaced w/same, at the time Roger did recommend the paper (thank you Roger

However I chose to use what came with the car and also considered I am adding a Fuel & N2O charge in the intake

I am sure either will meet your needs.

No mods required. Intake is the same '85-'86. I use paper gaskets. I spray both sides with Permatex 80065 gasket sealer. (Mostly just to breathe in the raspberry smell.)

Clean as much of the black goop (from old fuel spray) at the ends of the intake legs as you can. It can get pretty thick.
